9.3 Replacing the encoder reel
If the encoder reel is worn, the wire cannot be correctly fed. In this case, the encoder reel must be replaced.

(slippage).

Cause
Motor is defective.
Wire feed rolls are dirty.
Contact pressure for the wire feed rolls is
too low.
Friction on the cable assembly is too high.
Friction in the wire guide is too high.
Wire guide is dirty.

Push the bracket (B) backward.

Position the mounting tool (C) at a slight angle

and push it under the encoder reel (A).

Loosen the encoder reel (A) with a socket

wrench (AF10) and remove.

Insert the new encoder reel (A).

Push the bracket (B) backward.

Use a socket wrench (AF10) to tighten the

encoder reel (A) (max. tightening torque 1 Nm).
Remove the mounting tool (C).

Troubleshooting
► Motor gearbox must be replaced only by
a qualified electrician.
► Clean the wire feed rolls.
► Increase the contact pressure for the wire
feed rolls.

► Blow compressed air through the wire
guide hose and replace if necessary.
► Check how the wire guide hose is laid and
optimize as needed (bend large radii as
little as possible).
