Commissioning
Commissioning requires a thorough check by qualified personnel!
Before you operate a system protected by the L 4000 system for the
first time, make sure that the system is first checked and approved by
qualified personnel. Please read the notes in chapter "On safety" on
page 284.
6.1

Display sequence during start-up

After switch on, all segments in the 7-segment display illuminate. The
display then goes out and all segments are briefly activated one after
the other. The display then goes out as an indication that the device
is ready for operation. If the display does not go out, there is a device
error (see chapter 8 "Fault diagnosis").
The display values have the following meaning:

6.2

Aligning sender and receiver

After all parts have been mounted and connected, the related sender
and receiver must be aligned.
How to align sender and receiver in relation to each other:
Secure the plant/system. No dangerous state possible!
Make sure that the dangerous state of the machine is (and remains)
switched off! During the alignment process, the outputs of the L 4000
system are not allowed to have any effect on the machine.
Disconnect the wire at pin 13 on the safety evaluation device
UE 401 or at pin 4 on the first sensor. In this way you increase the
intensity of the light emitted by this and the other senders and
make the alignment process easier.
Always start the alignment by aligning the first pair in the chain, as
otherwise the subsequent senders cannot emit any light.
Align sender and receiver as accurately as possible and fix both
temporarily in position.
Switch on the power supply for the L 4000 system.
