The entire equipment must not come into contact with heat sources. This also applies to flying
þ
sparks during grinding work or similar.
It is essential for safety that any free fall (for example, through slack rope formation) is prevented.
þ
In addition, the vertical travel path must be free of all obstacles.
The descent operation has to be controlled permanently by the user. It can be very difficult to regain
þ
lost control.
After long descent operations the device can get very hot. For this reason only touch the device with
þ
gloves. The rope can be damaged by heat.
The operation of the equipment must be stopped immediately if safety is endangered by faults,
þ
damage or other circumstances. The supervisor must be informed immediately.
If the equipment is sold on to another country, it is important for the safety of the user that the reseller
þ
must make available the appropriate original operating instructions in the language of the other
country. Here the translation must be identified as "Translation of the Original Operating Instruc-
tions".
The UNIDRIVE can be used in the version with the standard handwheel and in the version with a
þ
smaller handwheel with a reduced diameter.
Notes on the friction clutch (torque limiter)
þ
Before using the lifting feature in a rescue operation or other lifting operations it is to be noted that
a maximum of 140 kg can be lifted with the handwheel. A clutch device which transfers the rotation
of the handwheel to the gears and finally to the rope is situated inside the handwheel. The design
of this clutch is such that it disengages at loads over 140 kg to limit the torque on the gears. There
is an acoustic signal (similar to a "click") and a haptic signal ("jerk") in the clutch, which indicates to
the user that the clutch is slipping. When the device is operated using a cordless screwdriver, the
haptic signal is transmitted to the screwdriver in the form of a short shock pulse. If these signals
occur, the operation of the device should be stopped in order to investigate the cause of the limiter
mode being activated. This friction clutch is designed to protect the gears from damage due to
overload (by hand or power source) as well as to protect a person from injury by being trapped in
corners or similar mishaps. As long as the load is under 140 kg the clutch is engaged and the device
can be operated by handwheel . The movement of the rope should therefore always be monitored
and attention paid to acoustic and haptic signals, as running the device in limiter mode (> 200 kg)
causes the clutch to wear quickly. Consequently lifting loads between 140 and 200 kg can only be
performed manually, using the telescopic ratchet handle.
