To adjust the tension of the Rip Fence Clamp (62):
1. Release the Rip Fence Clamp Lever
2. Loosen the knurled locking nuts on the Rip Fence Clamp Tension
Screws (64)
3. Using a 4mm Hex Key (not supplied) adjust the Rip Fence Clamp
Tension Screws clockwise to increase the tension, and anticlockwise
to reduce the tension
4. Re-tighten the knurled locking nuts
5. Check the Rip Fence slides smoothly on the Rip Fence Side Arm
Positioning the Fence
The Rip Fence (59) has one full-height face and one low-height face. It
can be set up in a variety of configurations which enable it to be used
on either the right or left of the blade, with either the full-height or
low-height side of the fence facing the blade. To achieve the required
configuration, use a combination of the following setups:
• Position the Rip Fence on the Rip Fence Side Arm (58) to sit either
side of the Saw Blade (8)
• Attach the Rip Fence to either of the Rip Fence Side Arms at the
infeed or outfeed side of the table
• Reverse the Rip Fence by swapping the Rip Fence Clamp (62) and
Rip Fence Roller (68) located either end of the Fence
(See 'Reversing the Fence')
IMPORTANT: The low fence should only face the blade when cutting
narrow material that is 19mm thick or less.
Note: For the maximum working width and to get the full benefit of the
ruler; the Rip Fence frame should be mounted on the same side as the
Rip Fence, in relation to the blade.
Reversing the Fence
See Fig. XV
1. Release the Rip Fence Clamp Lever (63)
2. Remove the Rip Fence (59) from the Rip Fence Side Arm (58)
3. Remove the Rip Fence Clamp (62) by undoing the 4 x Rip Fence
Clamp Mounting Bolts (71) on the underside of the Rip Fence
4. Remove the plastic cover from the roller end of the Rip Fence
5. Remove the Rip Fence Roller (68) assembly by removing the top Rip
Fence Roller Lock Nut (69) and then remove the Rip Fence Roller
6. Re-attach the Rip Fence Clamp using the 4 x threaded Rip Fence
Clamp Mounting Holes (70) at the opposite end of the Rip Fence
7. Insert the Rip Fence Roller into the corresponding hole at the
opposite end of the Rip Fence.
8. Adjust to the correct height using the lower Rip Fence Roller Lock
Nut and secure with the top Rip Fence Roller Lock Nut
Note: Ensure the Rip Fence Roller is correctly positioned to allow it to
roll parallel with the Rip Fence Side Arm
9. Check the Rip Fence for correct alignment
(See 'Aligning the fence to the blade')
10. Check the gap between the Rip Fence and table
(see 'Setting the fence/table gap')
Zeroing the Fence
1. Remove the Blade Guard (11) and Anti-Kickback Pawl (14)
2. Remove the Extension Support, if fitted
3. Set the Saw Blade (8) to its maximum height and set the bevel to 0⁰
4. Check the blade is at 90⁰ to the table (see "Blade calibration")
5. Position the Rip Fence (59) so that it sits tight to the Saw Blade.
Leave the Rip Fence Clamp Lever (63) unlocked so that the Rip Fence
Clamp (62) can slide freely on the Rip Fence Side Arms (58)
6. Release the Rip Fence Side Arm Clamps (67)
7. While keeping the Rip Fence tight to the blade, slide the Rip Fence
frame so that the Rip Fence Scale Indicator (66), aligns with the zero
on the scale of the Rip Fence Side Arm
8. Tighten the Rip Fence Side Arm Clamp
9. The Rip Fence can now be adjusted to the required cut width
by aligning the Rip Fence Scale Indicator (66) with the relevant
measurement on the scale (Fig. XVII)
Aligning the fence to the blade
The Rip Fence has been correctly set up at the factory. However, it is
possible that it may become mis-aligned and it is recommended to
check the alignment before first use and periodically thereafter.
WARNING: An incorrectly aligned fence can result in inaccurate cuts
and may cause kickback.
1. Remove the Blade Guard (11) and Anti-Kickback Pawl (14)
2. Check the Saw Blade (8) is correctly installed and the Blade Securing
Nut (41) is tight
3. Set the Saw Blade to its maximum height and set the bevel to 0⁰
4. Position the Rip Fence (59) so that it sits tight to the Saw Blade
(Fig. XVI). Do not lock the Rip Fence in place
5. To adjust the horizontal alignment: Using a 4mm hex key (not
supplied), adjust the Rip Fence Horizontal Adjustment Screws (72)
until the face of the Rip Fence is parallel to the Saw Blade
6. To adjust the vertical alignment: Loosen the knurled nuts on the Rip
Fence Height Adjustment Screws (65) and using a 4mm hex key (not
supplied), adjust the Rip Fence Height Adjustment Screws to align
the Rip Fence flush with the Saw Blade
7. Replace the Blade Guard and Anti-Kickback Pawl
Setting the fence/table gap
There should be a sufficient gap between the bottom of the Rip Fence
(59) and the table surface to prevent the Rip Fence from dragging on
the table. Adjustment is made at both ends of the Rip Fence.
To adjust the gap at the clamp end:
1. Release the Rip Fence Clamp Lever (63)
2. Loosen the knurled nuts on the Rip Fence Height Adjustment Screws
(65)
3. Use a 4mm hex key (not supplied) to adjust the Rip Fence Height
Adjustment Screws
Note: Turn both adjusters equally to avoid altering the vertical angle
of the Fence
4. Tighten the Rip Fence Height Adjustment Screws by turning
clockwise to increase the gap
5. Turn the Rip Fence Height Adjustment Screws anticlockwise to
reduce the gap
6. Re-tighten the knurled locking nuts
7. Check there is no contact between the bottom of the Rip Fence and
the table
To adjust the gap at the roller end:
See Fig. XV
1. Remove the plastic cover from the roller end of the Rip Fence (59)
2. Loosen the top Rip Fence Roller Lock Nut (69)
3. Adjust the lower Rip Fence Roller Lock Nut to set the height of the
Rip Fence
4. Ensure the Rip Fence Roller (68) is correctly positioned to allow it to
roll parallel with the Rip Fence Side Arm (58)
5. Tighten the top Rip Fence Roller Lock Nut
