Cleaning and disinfecting the module case, cable, and connector
Cautions:
• Disconnect module and cool to room temperature before cleaning.
• Use only approved cleaners or disinfectant. Do not immerse or sterilize.
• Improper cleaning techniques can potentially lead to cross-contamination.
• Keep cleaners and disinfectant away from sample cell receptacle and connectors.
• Do not pull or stretch the cable while cleaning and disinfecting.
• To reduce risk of infection to hospital staff and patients, the module must be cleaned and disinfected between patients.
Notes:
• Personal protective gear should be worn when cleaning and disinfecting the module.
• Follow manufacturer's instructions for use when using the approved cleaning and disinfecting agents.
• Do not pour liquids on the module while cleaning and disinfecting. Wipe around, not over, module ports.
• The module and windows must be clean and completely dry before reuse.
Cleaning instructions
Approved cleaners:
Mild soap
10% aqueous solution of 6% chlorine bleach
Big Spray New
®
Steris Coverage Spray HB
70% ethyl alcohol
99% Isopropyl Alcohol
Phenol 2% v/v
1. Choose a cleaner from the Approved cleaners list shown above. Mix per the manufacturer's instructions, if applicable.
2. Clean the device with a wipe from the list or with a cloth dampened with cleaning solution. See manufacturer's instructions for contact time.
3. Remove cleaner residue with a water-dampened clean cloth.
4. Thoroughly dry the device using non-linting wipes.
Disinfecting instructions
Approved disinfectant: 70% Isopropyl alcohol only
1. Use a lint-free wipe, wet but not dripping with 70% Isopropyl Alcohol. Thoroughly saturate all surfaces of the module, cable and connector.
2. Allow all surfaces to remain visibly wet for ten (10) minutes. If needed, use additional wipes to ensure the surfaces remain wet for the full duration.
3. Remove cleaner residue with a water-dampened clean cloth.
4. Thoroughly dry the device using non-linting wipes.
