PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
SAFE OPERATING PRACTICES
•
Thoroughly inspect the area where the equipment is to be used and remove all
foreign objects.
•
Stop the engine when leaving the operating position and when carrying out
repairs, adjustments and inspections. Take all possible precautions recommended by
the manufacturer when leaving the machine unattended.
•
Do not leave this machine running unattended.
•
Do not operate the machine without wearing adequate protection and safety
glasses. Always wear safety glasses or goggles during operation and while making
any adjustments or repairs to protect your eyes from foreign objects that may be
ejected from the machine. Make sure that your glasses or goggles fit properly.
•
Avoid loose-fitting clothing and wear protective footwear that improves grip on
slippery surfaces. Shirts and trousers that cover the arms and legs and steel-toed
boots are recommended. Secure hair above the shoulders. Do not wear loose
clothing or jewellery that could get caught in moving parts. Never operate the unit
in bare feet, sandals or sneakers. Always wear gloves.
•
Never place your hands, feet or any part of your body on, near or under any
moving parts while the engine is running.
•
Always maintain proper footing and balance at all times. Be attentive when
working or moving the machine on slopes and be especially careful when changing
direction on a slope. Do not use this machine on slopes steeper than 10°.
•
The engine becomes hot and can cause severe burns. Do not touch it.
•
Use extreme caution when reversing or pulling the machine towards you.
•
Do not operate the machine under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication. A
clear mind is essential for safety.
•
Always hold the machine by the handles with both hands and always place your
body behind you.
•
Never operate this machine in an enclosed area, as the engine exhaust contains
carbon monoxide, which is an odourless, tasteless and deadly poisonous gas.
•
Keep all guards and safety devices in place and working properly. Do not operate
the machine unless all safety guards are in place.
•
Use only attachments approved for this machine by the manufacturer. Read,
understand and follow all instructions provided with the approved attachment.
•
Use the unit in daylight only. Do not operate the unit at night or in dark areas
where your vision may be impaired.
•
Never lift or carry the machine with the engine running.
•
Do not run the engine if the air filter or carburettor air intake cover is removed,
except for adjustment. Failure to remove these parts could create a fire hazard.
•
Check that all safety features are installed and in good condition. Do not operate
this machine if any of its components are damaged.
•
Do not operate the machine in the rain or in extremely wet conditions.
•
Do not operate the machine in extreme temperatures.
•
Keep the machine away from excessive moisture.
•
Avoid using this machine in explosive areas with flammable liquids, gases and
dust.
•
Do not use where there are buried cables or pipes.
•
If the cutterbar hits a foreign object or if your machine starts to make an unusual
noise or vibration, stop the engine immediately. After the machine has come
to a complete stop, proceed as follows: - Wait for all moving parts to come to
a complete stop - Inspect for damage. - Repair or replace any damaged parts
before restarting and using the machine. If you cannot detect the reason, take it
to the Official Technical Service.
•
When shutting down the engine, reduce the engine speed. If you have a fuel
shut-off valve, be sure to use it after the engine has stopped.
•
Keep children and pets away - Tragic accidents can occur if the operator is not
alert to the presence of small children.
•
Keep children out of the work area and under the supervision of a responsible
adult other than the operator.
•
Be alert and turn the unit off if a child enters the area.
•
Never allow children to operate the power tiller.
•
Never allow others near the unit in operation and do not allow anyone who is not
alert to operate this machine.
