General power tool safety warnings
WARNING Read all safety information, instructions, illustrations and technical data included with this power tool.
Failure to adhere to the following instructions may cause electric shock, fire and/or severe injuries.
Keep all safety information and instructions for future reference.
The term "Power tool" used in the safety information refers to mains-powered electric tools (with power cables) or to battery-
powered electric tools (without power cables).
1) Health and safety in the workplace
a) Keep your working area tidy and well lit. Untidiness or unlit working areas may lead to accidents.
b) Do not use the power tool in environments where there is a risk of explosion, where there are flammable liquids,
gases or dusts. Power tools generate sparks which may ignite the dust or vapours.
c) Keep children and other persons away when using the power tool. If you are distracted, you may lose control of the
power tool.
2) Electrical safety
a) The plug of the power tool must fit in the socket. The plug must not be modified in any way. Do not use an
adapter together with earthed power tools. Plugs without modifications and suitable sockets reduce the risk of electric
shock.
b) Avoid physical contact with earthed surfaces such as pipes, heaters, stoves and fridges. There is an increased
risk of electric shock when your body is earthed.
c) Keep power tools away from rain and moisture. Water penetration into a power tool increases the risk of electric
shock.
d) Do not misuse the connecting cable to carry or hang up the power tool, and do not use it to pull the plug out of
the socket. Keep the connecting cable away from heat sources, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or
tangled connecting cables increase the risk of electric shock.
e) When working with a power tool outdoors, only use extension cables which are also suitable for outdoor use.
Use of an extension cable suitable for outdoors reduces the risk of electric shock.
f)
When operating the power tool in a wet environment cannot be avoided, use a fault-current circuit breaker. Using
a fault-current circuit breaker reduces the risk of electric shock.
3) Safety of persons
a) Be attentive, watch what you are doing and take the utmost care when working with a power tool. Do not use
any power tool if you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medications. One moment of
carelessness when using a power tool can lead to serious injuries.
b) Wear personal protective equipment and always wear safety goggles. Wearing personal protective equipment such
as dusk masks, anti-slip safety shoes, a safety helmet or hearing protection, depending on the type and use of the power
tool, reduces the risk of injuries.
c) Avoid unintended startup. Make sure that the power tool is switched off before connecting it to the power supply
and/or battery, picking it up, or carrying it. If you carry the power tool with your finger on the switch or connect the
power tool to the power supply while it is switched on, this may lead to accidents.
d) Remove the adjusting tools or spanners before switching on the power tool. A tool or spanner situated near the
rotating part of the power tool may lead to injuries.
e) Avoid abnormal body positions. Ensure that you have a firm stance and keep your balance at all times. This
allows you to have better control over the power tool in unexpected situations.
f)
Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair and clothing away from moving
parts. Loose clothing, jewellery or long hair may become caught in moving parts.
g) If dust extraction and collecting features can be fitted, these must be connected and used correctly. Using a dust
extraction feature can reduce hazards caused by dust.
h) Do not be fooled into a false sense of safety – do not defy the safety rules for power tools, even if you are
familiar with the power tool after many uses. Carelessness can lead to severe injuries within fractions of a second.
