Method 2: Explosion suppression system

With an Explosion Suppression System, the early
stage of an explosion is detected with optical and/
or pressure devices, and an extinguishing agent is
quickly dispersed into the filter. The suppression of
the explosion is initiated in an extremely short time
after explosion's detection (in milliseconds), and stops
the pressure rise and extinguishes (suppresses) the
flame/flames of the explosion.
This ensures that the filter is not stressed to a danger-
ous level by the explosion .
The key components of the Explosion Suppression
System are:
An explosion detection device (pressure/optical)
Computer operated control unit
Action elements such as pressure cylinders with
extinguish agent contained with an extra fast
opening valve .
Detailed information regarding system function, opera-
tion and maintenance can be found in the suppression
system manual .

Pre Installation

WARNING! Risk for personnel injuries . Al-
ways use proper lifting equipment and protec-
tive gear .
WARNING! Explosion risk . Don't open the
connection box when explosive atmosphere
or dust is present .
NOTE! Always follow local regulations and legislations
for all steps in the installation process .
NOTE! Fill in the installation protocol during the instal-
lation .
NOTE! The explosion relief panel should be handled
with great care . Never poke at the pressure-sensitive
membrane and do not bend the membrane or the
frame
NOTE! Read the entire manual before assembly of
the FlexFilter EX and pay close attention to the recom-
mendations . It is recommended that a layout is made
for the entire system before installing the FlexFilter EX .

Delivery check

The FlexFilter EX should be checked for any damage
that may have occurred during transport . If there is
damage or parts missing, the carrier and your local
Nederman representative should be notified immedi-
ately .

Installation requirements

The location were the FlexFilter EX is to be placed
must be prepared before the installation . Choose
which side that is to be used to access the bin (see
picture no. 8) A - front, B - rear. Consider the risk area
(see chapter "Explosion Protection") and the space
required for service or other means of changing the
filters and maintenance.
NOTE! The risk area may prohibit accessing the
FlexFilter EX from the front .
NOTE! The FlexFilter EX needs approx 1000 mm of
free space above the top to facilitate the changing of
main and control filters.
The FlexFilter EX shall be anchored to a hard, level
and firm foundation. A general example would be a
reinforced concrete foundation at least 190 mm (7,5
in) thick. However, installation on another structure is
also possible .
