12.9 Adjusting the self-
propulsion cable (ME 545 V)
Maintenance interval:
As required
The tension of the cable is adjusted
correctly at the factory.
Adjustment of the cable is necessary
– if, after a lengthy period of use, self-
propulsion does not engage properly
when the self-propulsion lever is
actuated.
– if self-propulsion is permanently
engaged. – This means that the lawn
mower automatically begins to move
when the machine is switched on,
despite the self-propulsion lever not
being actuated.
Risk of injury!
The self-propulsion cable must be
correctly adjusted before the
machine is operated. If necessary,
consult a specialist dealer. VIKING
recommends VIKING specialist
dealers.
Checking the cable tension:
● Switch off the motor and remove the
mains plug.
● Actuate the self-propulsion lever while
pulling the lawn mower backwards.
The drive wheels must lock after
approx. one third of the lever travel.
Adjusting the cable:
● The cable tension is increased by
turning adjustment screw (1) on the left
on the upper handlebar in the "+"
direction and reduced by turning the
screw in the "–" direction.
