Things to Observe on a Mission
— Observe action time, action limits and country-specific regu-
lations.
The action time according to "BGR 190 Benutzung von
Atemschutzgeräten (Use of breathing protection equip-
ment)" is approx. 20 minutes at 30
At higher ambient temperatures, the action time must be
shortened correspondingly. The maximum action time may
also depend on the used breathing protection equipment.
Safety precautions need to be taken to avoid the risk of seri-
ous physical injuries or death in a potentially hazardous situa-
tion.
— If you are wearing a protective suit with integral ventilation
valve, close the unused connection to prevent contaminants
from entering.
— Leave the contaminated area immediately in a case of emer-
gency. Open the closure system only in clean areas (see

"After Use").

After Use
Pre-Cleaning/Primary Decontamination
Leave the contaminated area and have a second person
carry out the pre-cleaning/primary decontamination. The
helper must wear protective clothing and respiratory protec-
tion, if necessary. Dräger recommends the use of large
amounts of water mixed with detergents for the primary
decontamination. With this method, most chemicals (acids,
alkalines, organics and anorganics) can be washed off eas-
ily.
If a pre-cleaning / primary decontamination cannot be car-
ried out on site, it is vital to close the suit after undressing to
prevent chemicals from entering the suit.
Clean the suit thoroughly and extensively. Avoid carryover
of chemicals.
Never touch contaminated parts without protective clothing.
Avoid any contamination of the clean interior of the protective
suit.
If the suit is contaminated with hazardous substances: the
effluent must be disposed of in accordance with the applica-
ble waste disposal regulations. Your local authorities can pro-
vide the respective details.
If necessary, carry out the decontamination in several steps.

Have a second person decouple the air supply
Remove the chemical protective suit from the user so that
no chemical or detergent enters the interior of the suit.
Step out of the protective boots and the trouser legs.
Log the mission (see "Record Card" on page 36).
