Sterilization
Laryngoscopes have to be sterilized as required by national regulation and internal institutional
standards. We recommend the sterilization with saturated steam at 134 °C for 4 minutes. Cycles
of up to 18 minutes or up to 60 minutes in specified cases should not damage the metal part of the
blade. There may be a reduction in light transmission with frequent / repeated long-term steam
sterilization, particularly if the steam quality is not ideal.
It is the responsibility of the end user to ensure that the cleaning and sterilization is actually performed
using appropriate equipment, materials, and personnel to achieve the desired result. This normally
requires validation and routine monitoring of the process. Any deviation from these instructions
should be evaluated for effectiveness and potential adverse consequences.

General Warnings
Check the correct operation of the product at regular intervals. Do not use the equipment if it
shows visible signs of damage.
Use only laryngoscope handles with a green identification mark. The HEINE F.O. angled handle
should not be used with HEINE FlexTip+. The lever mechanism and moving parts are not designed
to operate under heavy loads. Do not bend or use unnecessary force!
Bring the blade into the normal working position and check that the light switches on.
The bulb brightness can reduce during use if the rechargeable battery was not charged
sufficiently before use. We recommend a minimum recharge time of 10 minutes for HEINE
rechargeable batteries in HEINE chargers.
After some minutes' use the laryngoscope bulb will be hot.
The laryngoscope may only be used by trained personnel.
To avoid cross-infection, the laryngoscope must be cleaned and disinfected or sterilized after
each intubation (see cleaning instructions).
Where the instrument is subject to frequent use we recommend that a spare instrument and a
small stock of replacement bulbs and batteries should be permanently available.
This product is not allowed to be entered or used in strong magnetic fields like MRI scanners.
