How to Set u_ Restrictions Usin_q "TV Parental Guidelines"
First, set up a personal identification number (PIN), and enable the V-Chip. (See previous
section.) Parental restrictions can be set up using either of two methods: The TV
guidelines or the MPAA rating.
1 Pressthe MENU button.
Press the 4 or _.-button to select Setup, then press the ENTER button.
Press the A or T button to select V-Chip, then press the ENTER button.
2 Press the A or T button.
Press the number buttons to enter your current 4-digit PIN.
The default PiN for a new TV set is 'O-O-O-O".
The V-Chip menu is displayed.
Press the A or T button to select TV Parental Guidelines, then press the ENTER button.
The TV Parental Guidelines screen wilt appear.
Press the A or _r button to select one of the six aged based categories:
* TV-Y: All children. The themes and elements in this program are specifica y
designed for a very young auaience, inclualnc children from ages two to
SIX.
,, TV-Y7: Directed to older chl Jren. The themes and elements in this program ma_
inClude mild pnysicat or comedlc violence, or may frighten cnllaren unae[
the age of seven
* TV-G Generat audience, it contains little or no violence, nc s[rong language, aria
H[[leor no sexua dialog or st[uauons.
* TV-PG: Parental guidance suggested. This program may contain infrequent coarse
language limited violence, some suggestive sexual dialog aria si[uauons
. TV-14: Parents strongly cautioned. This program may comain sophisticated
[nemes. sexuai content, strong iangLlageand more intense violence
* TV-MA: Mature audiences only. This program may con[atn ma[ure themes, profane
