Control ports STO1 / STO2

The following can be connected to the control ports:
– semiconductor safety outputs (electronic safety switching devices, active safety sensors, e.g. light
curtains with OSSD signals) - and -
– switch contacts, (safety switching devices with relay outputs, passive safety switches e.g. force
pilot operated position switches).
The inputs STO1 and STO2 have equal value, therefore it makes no difference in which sequence they
are set or reset. They are also protected against polarity reversal, but are not equipped with voltage
monitoring. If required, such a voltage monitoring must be realized externally.
The permissible voltage tolerance for detection of the logic 1 (+24 V) and logic 0 (0 V) are
stated in the technical data.
Note
The CMMO-ST cannot detect a cross circuit in the input circuit by itself.
• Check to see if a cross-circuit detection of the input circuit and the connection wiring
is required for your application.
• If necessary, use a safety switching device with cross-circuit detection for activation
of the safety module.
Switching times
The amount of energy stored in the components of the safety function (e.g. capacitors) depends on the
height of the input voltage. During switching operations, this amount of energy must be charged or
discharged. This results in values for the cut-off time for the transition to safe status (STO) and the
allowable time regarding OSSD signals (buffer time), which are dependent on the input voltage. The
maximum switching time is given in Chap. 5.4.
