Preconditions for an aromatic espresso/coffee
52
Observe the following instructions to prepare an aromatic espresso
or coffee at just the right temperature.
After heating up the appliance, allow hot water to run through
■
the screen insert and screen carrier.
Preheat your cups on the hot plate.
■
Rinse out cold cups with hot water to preheat them before use.
■
Leave the empty, cleaned screen insert with screen carrier in
■
the hot appliance to heat up.
If possible, use freshly ground coffee powder for the optimum
■
taste development.
Experiment with the amount of coffee powder until you find
■
your own personal taste. As a rough guide, calculate approx.
7 grams of coffee powder for a cup of coffee/espresso and
approx. 14 grams of coffee powder for a large cup of coffee or
two espressos.
Also try out different degrees of grinding fineness for the coffee
■
powder. The grinding fineness has an influence on the aroma
and the crema of the espresso.
Press down the coffee powder only lightly. If the coffee powder
■
is pressed down too firmly, bitter substances may occur and the
percolation time increases.
Fill the water tank with fresh water.
■
Empty and clean the screen insert after every use.
■
Clean and descale the appliance at regular intervals. A dirty
■
and/or scaled appliance impairs the aroma.
