Sending and Receiving
Text Messages

Basic requirements

The following requirements must be met in
order to be able to send and receive text
messages:
• The telephone number of an SMS
centre must be stored as a special
"SMS centre" number.
• Your telephone number must be
registered with the relevant SMS
service.
• The caller identity function (CLIP) and
call number transfer for your telephone
extension must be enabled by your
network provider.
Ask your network provider about the
procedure for registering at the SMS
centre.

Selecting an SMS centre

You have to be registered with at least
one SMS centre in order to send or
receive text messages.
You can store the telephone numbers of
four SMS centres. The telephone number
of the first SMS centre is automatically
dialled to send a text message.
The first SMS centre listed on the factory
setting is the Deutsche Telekom SMS
centre.
Sending and Receiving Text Messages
You can select the SMS centre for the
next text message you want to send. Once
this text message has been sent the
telephone will automatically revert to the
first SMS centre when dialling the next
time.
If you want to use a different SMS centre
all the time then you have to save its
telephone number as "SMS centre 1".
To select an SMS centre, follow these
steps:
Press the MENU key.
Select the "SMS" menu.
Press the MENU key.
Select the "Settings" sub-menu.
Press the MENU key.
Choose the "SMS centre" option.
Press the MENU key.
Select the preferred SMS centre.
Press the MENU key.
The telephone number stored for this SMS
centre will appear in the display.
To change the stored telephone number
enter the required telephone number
using the number keys.
