Preparations for A/C service

!
The ACS 500 is intended to be used exclusive-
ly for type R134a refrigerant. Before the A/C
service, check in the vehicle documentation
whether this refrigerant is used in the A/C
system.
!
The ACS 500 cannot be used for servicing a
vehicle A/C system that has been repaired
with a chemical sealant. The sealant could
damage the ACS 500 and the vehicle A/C
system. Non-compliance invalidates the war-
ranty.
i
The vehicle-specific manufacturer's instruc-
tions must be read before each air conditio-
ning service.
Robert Bosch GmbH
Before servicing the vehicle A/C system, the fol-
lowing preparatory steps must always be taken:
1.
Place the ACS 500 on an even surface close
to the vehicle A/C system.
2.
Secure the ACS 500 against rolling away
using the handbrake.
3.
Connect the mains line.
4.
Depending on the vehicle's A/C system,
connect the appropriate LP/HP quick re-
lease couplings (Fig. 1; 7) to the service
connections on the A/C system.
5.
Open the valves on the quick release cou-
plings clockwise.
The current internal pressure of the
vehicle A/C system is displayed on
the low and high pressure manome-
ter (or on the low pressure manome-
ter only).
6.
Turn on the ACS 500 at the master
switch.
7.
Open the HP and/or LP valve.
i
On vehicles with a low pressure connection,
only open the LP valve. Before filling the A/C
system using the low pressure connection,
turn on the A/C system in the vehicle, set the
temperature to the maximum and the fan to
its highest level.
.

Overview of operating phases

In Automatic, Vehicle code and Manual modes,
the following phases can be performed:
Recovery/recycling phase
Refrigerant is extracted from the vehicle
and cleaned.
Vacuum phase
A vacuum is generated in the vehicle A/C
system and the system is then checked
for leaks.
Oil injection phase
Refrigerant oil is fed into the vehicle A/C
system.
UV injection phase
UV contrast medium is injected into the
vehicle A/C system.
Filling phase
A specified quantity of the refrigerant is
fed back into the vehicle A/C system.
