3. Follow the on-screen instructions to partition and format an additional hard
disk drive.
If you install your drive in a computer that has no previously existing hard
drive, do the following to partition and format your new SCSI hard disk drive
for the Windows NT operating system using NTFS.
1. Insert the first installation diskette (Setup Disk #1) in the diskette drive, or
insert the installation CD into the CD-ROM drive of your computer.
2. Restart your computer.
3. Follow the instructions in the operating system User's Guide to partition and
format your drive.
Partitioning and formatting your drive using the NT file
system for Windows 2000 Professional and Windows 2000
Server
If you add your drive to a computer that has either the Windows 2000
Professional or Windows 2000 Server operating system installed on an existing
drive, do the following to partition and format your new SCSI drive using the
NT file system (NTFS) convention:
1. Turn on your computer.
2. Click Start
3. Double-click Administrative Tools.
4. Double-click Computer Management.
5. Double-click Storage.
6. Double-click Disk Management.
7. Click Action and then select All Tasks
Volume wizard opens.
8. Follow the on-screen instructions to partition and format your drive.
If you install your drive in a computer that has no previously existing hard
drive, do the following to partition and format your new SCSI hard disk drive
for the Windows 2000 Professional or Windows 2000 Server operating system
using NTFS:
1. Insert the installation CD into the CD-ROM drive of your computer.
2. Restart your computer. The Windows 2000 Professional and Windows 2000
Server installation CDs contain all necessary files to start up your computer.
3. Follow the instructions in the operating system User's Guide to partition and
format your drive.
