NOTICE: To receive any expressed or implied warranty, tool must be repaired by an authorized service center. The following general
service instructions provided are for use after completion of the warranty period.
DISASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
Motor Disassembly:
To prevent damage to the motor assembly the following sequence
must be followed:
1.
Open up the access hole in the (27) Shroud.
2.
Remove the (36) Pad by removing the (28) Screws using a
T-20 Torx® driver.
3.
Remove the (34) Balancer by removing the (35) Screw.
4.
Remove the pad backing assembly by pulling it away from
the tool.
5.
Remove the (33) Belleville Retainer by removing the (44)
Screws using a 2.5mm L wrench.
6.
Remove the (32) Spindle Bearing Dust Shield and (31)
Spacer. Discard the Spindle Bearing Dust Shield.
7.
Remove the (30) Bearing from the (29) Pad backing.
8.
Unscrew the (12) Lock Ring with the (MPA0025) T-6 Motor
Lock Ring Wrench/Spindle Puller Tool. The motor assembly
and Lock Ring can now be lifted out of the (26) Motor Hous-
ing.
9.
Remove the (1) Retaining Ring and the (4) O-Ring from the
(5) Cylinder.
10. Remove the (3) Rear Endplate. This requires supporting the
Rear Endplate using a (MPA0416) Bearing Separator and
lightly pressing the shaft through the (2) Bearing and the
Rear Endplate.
11. Remove the (5) Cylinder and the five (6) Vanes, and (7) Rotor
from the (14) Shaft Balancer.
12. Remove the (8) Keys, and then press off the (9) Front End-
plate (with (10) Bearing), (11) O-Ring and the (12) Lock Ring.
It may be necessary to remove the Bearing with a Bearing
Separator if it came out of the Front Endplate and stuck to the
shaft of the Shaft Balancer.
13. Remove the (13) Front Bearing Dust Shield from the shaft
of the (14) Shaft Balancer. Discard the Front Bearing Dust
Shield.
14. Remove the bearing(s) from the endplates by using the
(MPA0036) T-8 Bearing Removal Tool to press out the bear-
ings.
Housing Disassembly:
1.
Unscrew the threaded (15) Plug(s) and/or the (49) Side
Handle (if used) from the (26) Motor Housing.
2.
Remove the (25) Hanger and (24) Spacer Rings. (if used)
3.
Remove the (54) Retaining Ring. The (52) Speed Control
(with (53) O-Ring) will now pull straight out from the (26) Mo-
tor Housing. Use an o-ring pick to remove the O-Ring from
the Speed Control.
4.
Use a T-20 Torx® driver to unscrew all Screws.
5.
Remove the (16 and 51) Housings.
6. Remove the (17) Muffler and (18 and 19) Seals from the (16)
Housing.
7a. For Non-Vacuum (NV) machines: Remove the (59) End Cap.
7b. For Central Vacuum (CV) and Self-Generated Vacuum (SGV)
machines: Remove the (60) CV/SGV End Cap. Remove the
(63) Hose Seal from the CV/SGV End Cap.
8.
Unscrew the (61) Inlet Bushing from the (59 or 60) End Cap.
Remove the (58) Mufflers, (55) Captive Ring, and (56 and 57)
O-Rings from the End Cap.

SERVICE INSTRUCTIONS
9a. For NV and CV machines: Remove the (45) Exhaust Tubing,
(46) Tubing Clamp, and (47) Inlet Tubing from the motor
housing assembly. Separate the Exhaust Tubing, Tubing
Clamp, and Inlet Tubing from each other.
9b. For SGV machines: Remove the (47) Inlet Tubing from the
motor housing assembly.
10. Unscrew the three (44) Screws from the motor housing as-
sembly.
11a. For NV and CV machines: Remove the (43) NV/CV Exhaust
Nozzle and the (41) Gasket from the motor housing assem-
bly.
11b. For SGV machines: Remove the (42) SGV Exhaust Nozzle
and the (41) Gasket from the motor housing assembly.
12. Press out the (23) Spring Pin from the (26) Motor Housing
and remove the (22) Safety Throttle Lever.
13. Remove the (40) Seal Assembly. This component can be-
come damaged during removal and will need to be replaced if
damaged.
14. Remove the (39) Spring, (38) Valve, (37) Valve Seat, and the
(20) Valve Stem from the (26) Motor Housing. Use an o-ring
pick to remove the o-ring from the Valve Stem.
15. Remove the (27) Shroud from the (26) Motor Housing.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: All assembly must be done with clean dry parts and all
bearings are to be pressed in place by the correct tools and
procedures as outlined by the bearing manufacturers.
Housing Assembly:
1.
Lightly grease the o-ring and place it in the groove of the (20)
Valve Stem. Install the Valve Stem into the sleeve in the (26)
Motor Housing.
2.
Install the (37) Valve Seat, the (38) Valve and the (39) Spring.
Press the (40) Seal Assembly into the (26) Motor Housing.
3.
Install the (22) Safety Throttle Lever into the (26) Motor Hous-
ing with the (23) Spring Pin.
4.
Install the (27) Shroud onto the (26) Motor Housing.
5a. For NV and CV machines: Install the (43) NV/CV Exhaust
Nozzle and the (41) Gasket using the three (44) Screws.
Torque setting to be 21-30 in-lbs (2.4-3.4 N-m). Insert the
(45) Exhaust Tubing and the (47) Inlet Tubing into the (46)
Tubing Clamp. Then insert the Exhaust Tubing into the
NV/CV Exhaust Nozzle and insert the Inlet Tubing into the
(40) Seal Assembly.
5b. For SGV machines: Install the (42) SGV Exhaust Nozzle and
(41) Gasket using the three (44) Screws. Torque setting to
be 21-30 in-lbs (2.4-3.4 N-m). Insert the (47) Inlet Tubing into
(40) Seal Assembly.
6. Install the two (58) Mufflers, (56 and 57) O-Rings, and (55)
Captive Ring into the End Cap assembly. Lightly grease the
o-rings before installation.
7.
Coat the threads of the (61) Inlet Bushing with 1 or 2 drops of
Loctite™ 222 or equivalent non-permanent pipe thread seal-
ant. Screw the Inlet Bushing into the End Cap Assembly until
hand tight. Torque setting to be 60-72 in-lbs (6.8-8.1 N-m).
