anchor strap will be attacked by these products. The resulting
deterioration of the fibers is not always visible to the naked eye.
• Avoid unnecessary exposure of the anchor line and the anchor
strap to the sun; always store the equipment in a shaded loca­
tion sheltered from hurnidity.
• Never allow the anchor line or anchor strap to rub against any
sharp edges or abrasive surfaces.
• Store the anchor line and the anchor strap in a bag in order to

protect it and whenever transporting the equipment. TRACTEL
supplies an appropriate bag with the Tempo 2 lifeline.
• No special servicing is required for the tensioner. We recom­
mend however that you clean the tensioner using soapy water.
• The annual servicing and repairs must be performed by Tractel
or by an authorized repair company or by a qualified person
designated by the company manager.

Warnings against hazardous operations

It is forbidden:
• to use the Tempo 2 lifeline for any purpose other than with a
fall­arrest system,
• to use the Tempo 2 lifeline as a means of suspending a user
or any other load,
• to use the Tempo 2 lifeline if it is improperly tensioned or if
its installation angle exceeds the 15° limit with respect to the
horizontal (Fig 5).
• to use a lifeline which has stopped a fall, without the
device having been inspected and tested after a fall by the
manufacturer or an authorized repair agent,
• to use an anchor line or an anchor strap showing any defects,
knots or visible signs of damage,
• to use a device for more than twelve months without having
had it checked by the manufacturer or a repair company
authorised by him.
• to use the lifeline for a length exceeding 20 m between the
anchor points (Fig. 2),
• to use a lifeline if the vertical clearance is insufficient. See
table 2 (normal use after a fall) and 1 (restricted use). See §
"Definition",
• to use a lifeline if the anchor points are of insufficient strength
or considered as being of insufficient strength,
• to use a lifeline if at least one of the two anchor points is
damaged,
• to use a lifeline if, during a fall, the user(s) risk hitting an
obstacle,
• to use a lifeline if the user(s) has not read and understood
this manual,
• to use a lifeline at temperatures exceeding +60°C or below
­35°C or in an aggressive chemical environment (Fig. 6),
• to connect two lifelines with no intermediate anchor point
(Fig. 4),
• to use a light alloy connector as a mobile anchor point,
• to use an abrasive connector as a mobile anchor point,
• to use a lifeline positioned at the user's feet (Fig. 5),
• to install and use a Tempo 2 lifeline without first having
determined an efficient and safe rescue procedure should a
rescue operation be necessary.
• Use the Tempo 2 lifeline if the safety function of any of the
associated parts is affected by the safety function of another
part or if it interferes with it.
• To use a Tractel® fall­prevention anchoring device as an
anchor point on load­lifting equipment.
Permissible attachments
The Tempo 2 lifeline is a component of a horizontal fall­arrest
system which must comply with standard EN 363 and which
must comprise:
1) two anchor devices complying with standard EN 795,
2) a Tempo 2 lifeline complying with standard EN 795,
3) a first connector, used as mobile anchor point, complying with
standard EN 362,
4) a fall­arrester complying with standard EN 353.2 / EN 355
/ EN 360,
5) a lanyard complying with standard EN354 (restricted use not
allowing risk of fall), table No. 2,
6) a fall arrest harness satisfying the requirements of standard
EN 361.

All other associations are forbidden.

A fall­arrest harness EN 361 is the only safety harness
which can be used in a fall­arrest system.
In all utilization situations, you must combine the deflection
of the Tempo 2 lifeline (in accordance with its length and
the number of users (tables 1 and 2), and the maximum
fall distance recommended by the manufacturer of the fall
arrester used.
If a fall arrester compliant with standard EN 360 is used,
the user must make sure by all appropriate means, under
risk­free conditions, that the risk of a rebound in the event of
an operator fall does not represent a hazard to the operator.
In accordance with European specifications, each of the
components attached together, numbered from 1) to 6) above,
marketed by Tractel
, has received CE marking, as a result of

an EC type­examination, and has been subject to production
quality control.

equipment described in this manual:
• complies with the requirements of European Directive 89/686/
EEC of December 1989,
• is identical to the PPE which was the subject of type­
examination certificates issued by APAVE SUDEUROPE SAS
­ CS 60193 ­ 13322 Marseille ­ France, identified by number
0082 and tested in accordance with standard EN 795: 2012,
• is subject to the procedure provided for in Art. 11B of the
89/686/EEC Directive, under the control of a notified body:

Any company assigning personal fall protection equipment to an
employee or similar person must apply the health and safety at
work regulations.
Within the European Union, these devices must be checked
periodically in accordance with the 89/656/EEC Directive dated
30/11/89 (i.e. at least once a year, by TRACTEL
TRACTEL
S.A.S. authorised repair company).

Periodic inspections

Yearly servicing is necessary; however, depending on the
frequency of use, environmental conditions and the regulations
of the company or the country where used, periodic inspections
can be more frequent. Periodic inspections should be carried
out by an authorised and competent technician, in compliance
with the manufacturer's instructions transcribed in the Tractel
"PPE inspection instructions" file. Confirm legibility of the
marking on the product during the periodic inspection. A return
to service must be made in writing, under the responsibility of
the authorised and competent technician who carried out the
inspection. Return to service of the product must be recorded
on the inspection record which can be found in the centre of this
manual. This inspection record should be retained throughout
