1. General information

These installation instructions serve the
installer to fit the filter professionally, to set it
into operation and to service it.
Read installation and operating instructions in
their entirety before work commences.

1.4. Extent of supply
Apart from the installation and operating
instructions, the backflush filter is also sup-
plied as well as two pressure gauges, one
nipple for drain water connection and two
couplings.
Check the delivery for completeness and any
damages caused during transit.

2. Safety notes

The filter must be installed by a qualified
installer with due consideration of valid stan-
dards and rules.
The manufacturer does not accept liability for
damages and malfunctions caused by nonob-
servance of these instructions.

3. Application

The backflush filter "Aquanova Compact R" is
a mechanical filter according to EN 13443 – 1
for the protection of a potable water installati-
on. It is installed in buildings at the entry point
of the domestic installation. The max. opera-
ting temperature is 30°C.
Potable water is considered as food and sup-
plied by the water authority clean and free
from impurities. However, when passing
through the supply pipes, before reaching the
consumer, it may be polluted by rust or dirt
particles, grains of sand, chalk sediments or
installation residues.
These impurities are of often of microscopic
size and therefore invisible to the naked eye.
They deposit in the pipework and do not only
cause contact corrosion within the domestic
installation but also affect potable water hea-
ters, valves, dish-washers, continuous-flow
water heaters etc. To comply with the DIN
1988 standard, the domestic installation has
to be protected by a water filter according to
EN 13443 – 1.

4. Installation

The back flush filter is to be installed horizon-
tally between two isolating or ball valves with
the handwheel facing upwards and if possible
directly behind the water meter. Installation is
carried out using the included couplings. The
direction of flow is indicated on the filter
head. The enclosed pressure gauges with the
plastic ring gaskets can be screwed into the
tapping points at the front of the filter.
