8.1 CONTRA-ANGLE MAINTENANCE
Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for the contra-angle.
8.2 ROTARY INSTRUMENT MAINTENANCE
Please refer to the manufacturer's instructions for your instruments (files).
8.3 DEVICE MAINTENANCE
Important:
Do not use an abrasive product to clean the device.
Do not use a spray to clean and disinfect the device.
The device, endodontic motor, and control pedal cannot be sterilized.
Disconnect the unit from its power source before cleaning or disinfecting it. Do not expose it directly to liquids or sprays.
Never submerge the unit or any of its components in a liquid solution.
The outer surface of the unit can be cleaned using a damp cloth and disinfecting wipes. The housing is not waterproof. Do
not use ultrasonic or steam sterilizations.
The Genius
endodontic motor unit and the control pedal must always be cleaned and disinfected after each use, using an
®
alcohol solution, a disinfectant, and disinfectant wipes for dental use.
The outside of the pedal can be cleaned with a soft cloth moistened with a mild detergent or disinfectant solution.
Check the Genius
endodontic motor device for any problems on a regular basis.

8.4 MAINTENANCE OF THE ENDODONTIC MOTOR AND ITS CORD
Do not try to sterilize or lubricate the endodontic motor.
Do not disassemble the endodontic motor or its connector. Disconnect the device from its power source before cleaning or
disinfecting it. Do not expose it directly to liquids or sprays. Never submerge motor in a liquid solution. The outer surface of the
motor can be cleaned using a damp cloth and disinfecting wipes. Never place the endodontic motor in an ultrasonic cleaner. The
motor support can be cleaned using a damp cloth and disinfecting wipes.
Irrigation clips and silicon supports can be sterilized. Sterilize at 134°C for 18 minutes or at 132°C for 4 minutes, according to
the instructions from the autoclave manufacturer.
Always verify set values before using the device. Improper use may result in bodily injury.
When treating a patient who might have a serious acute infection, follow hygiene precautions listed in corresponding
publications and reports. As much as possible, use disposable products to prevent transmission of dangerous
pathogens. This will protect the user, the patient, and everyone else in your office.
IX - MONITORING / PREVENTIVE AND CORRECTIVE MAINTENACE
Important:
In the event of an abnormality, it is recommended to contact your device's manufacturer. Do not call any other
repair service, as they may cause your device to become dangerous to you and your patients.
9.1 MONITORING
Regular monitoring of the device and its accessories is required in order to detect any isolated defects or damage. Replace as
needed.
9.2 PREVENTIVE AND CORRECTIVE MAINTENANCE
Genius
endodontic motor check/revision: The manufacturer recommends checking or servicing your Genius
®
at least once annually.
The endodontic motor' cord has a limited lifetime and should be treated as a consumable product. The cord's life mainly
depends on its use and treatment (handling, reprocessing, and frequency of use).
Handle the pedal and motor cord with care when connecting or disconnecting the device in order to prevent damage (Fig. 12).
Inspect the endodontic motor cord on a regular basis to detect deterioration prior to use. If there is visible deterioration,
contact your dealer or distributor.
