5. Ensure the Traction Accessory is in the start (*****) position and
insert the sterile Traction Accessory into the sterile Piggy Back
(Figure 3).

6. Attach both clips of the Strap to the Ankle Accessory (Figure 4). The
Clips must be oriented 90° to initially fit onto the Ankle Accessory,
then rotated to secure in place.

7. Place the Ankle Stabilization Strap onto the operative foot (Figure 5).
Ensure that the Strap marked Heel is placed over the patient's heel.

8. Insert the sterile Ankle Arthroscopy Accessory into the sterile
Traction Accessory.
9. Ensure all of the connections are secure, and then lock the Quick
Connect Locks (Figure 6).

10. Grasp the slender arm of the SPIDER and the Traction Handle
on the Traction Accessory and pull horizontally until the desired
amount of gross traction is achieved.
11. You are now ready to begin the procedure:
a. Traction can be adjusted by rotating the Traction Handle on the
Traction Accessory (Figure 7).

b. The angle of the operative limb can be adjusted by grasping the
SPIDER and the Traction Accessory, stepping on the Pedal and
repositioning limb. If the SPIDER is repositioned, traction must
be re-established.

13. If using the Smith & Nephew Fracture Support (TFS) as a counter
traction device, read the Smith & Nephew Fracture Support
Instructions for Use.
Cleaning/Sterilization
• Discard disposable components and wipe entire SPIDER assembly
with mild detergent/ disinfectant following each case.
• Do not allow cleaning liquids to get into SPIDER joints.
• Clean and sterilize according to 79-99-04 Cleaning and Sterilization
Instructions.
Autoclave Type
Minimum Exposure Time 10 minutes
Minimum Temperature: 132–134° C (270° F)
Note: Allow at least 20 minutes to cool at room temperature.
Warranty
This product has a standard 12-month parts and labor warranty against
manufacturing defects.
