CHECKS AND MAINTENANCE
SPARK PLUG
Keeping the spark plug in good condition helps to
decrease fuel consumption and helps optimize the
engine performance.
For this check, simply remove the cap and remove
the spark plug using the provided tool.
Thoroughly clean the electrodes using a wire brush.
Blow the spark plug off with compressed air to avoid
the possibility of any residue penetrating the engine.
Check the spark plug gap.
The gap between the electrodes must be between
0.5 ÷ 0.6 mm, in case this does not correspond to
this value it is necessary to gently correct the spacing
of electrodes.
The color of the spark plug can appear:
- black indicates carburation mixture is too "rich".
- hazelnut indicates correct carburation.
- white color indicates that carburation is too "lean".
Also check that the insulation is not cracked and that
the electrodes are not corroded. If this is the case
immediately replace the spark plug.
Lubricate the threads of the spark plug and with
the (motor cold), screw it by hand until it stops then
tighten it with the provided tool.
WARNING
Do not perform this check with the engine hot.
