Game 5: Quick & clever
A listening game for 1 to 6 children ages 4 and older and a game guide.
Learning areas:
Precise listening, precise observation, speed reaction, concentration, sound differentiation
Game preparation
Place all figures in the center of the playing area. For a simplified version, reduce the number
of figures. The cards, die, cloth bag and CD are not needed.
First, demonstrate all the sounds and tell or show the children to which figure they belong.
Let's play!
Choose one figure and make the matching sound while moving the figure across the playing
area. After a while, change the sound, using one for a different figure, then return to the
sound for the current figure.
Example: Take the train engine and push it slowly over the playing area while making the
train engine sound, CHOO-CHOO-CHOO. Now insert another sound, CHOO-CHOO-CHOO-
WOOF- WOOF, gliding smoothly back into CHOO-CHOO-CHOO.
Everyone plays at once, trying to be the first to snatch up the figure corresponding to the
inserted sound.
Did a child snatch up the correct figure?
• A child snatching up the correct figure wins the figure, placing it in front of him.
• A falsely snatched up figure is placed back in the center of the playing area with the
other figures.
End of the game
The game ends when there are only 3 figures left in the center of the playing area. The child
who was able to snatch up the most figures, wins.
Variations:
• Move the figure (train engine, etc.) over the playing area and stop next to another figure.
The first child to make the correct sound for this figure, wins the figure.
• A child takes on the role of game guide.
Game 6: All together now!
A sing-song game with roles for 3 to 8 children ages 4 and older and a game guide.
Learning areas:
Listening, pronunciation, rhythm
