• Confirm that the system is turned off before replacing any defective mechanical or electrical
part in the system.
• DO NOT tamper with or remove the housing of any bar code reader.
• Dispose all waste liquids from the IMMAGE 800 Immunochemistry System in an approved
method for handling biohazardous material.
• If a hazardous substance such as blood is spilled onto the IMMAGE 800 System, clean up the spill
by using a 10% bleach solution, or use your laboratory decontamination solution. Then follow
your laboratory procedure for disposal of hazardous materials. If the IMMAGE 800 System
needs to be decontaminated, call your Beckman Coulter Service Representative for assistance.
Dispose of all contaminated disposable cleaning materials in accordance with your local
regulations and acceptable laboratory practices.
• Observe all laboratory policies or procedures pertaining to the handling of biological samples
that may contain pathogens.
• To STOP, turn the instrument main power switch off if the stop button on the screen is
unavailable, and the instrument must be stopped immediately.
• PRESERVATIVES: Sodium azide preservative may form explosive compounds in metal drain
lines. See National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health bulletin: Explosive Azide
Hazards (8/16/76).
• Incineration of used reagent cartridges may produce toxic fumes.
IMMAGE 800 Symbols and Hardware Labels
The following symbols and hardware labels are attached to the IMMAGE 800. Use caution, observe
and follow all warning labels. Do not cover or remove these labels. If the labels peel off or become
illegible, contact Beckman Coulter to replace the labels.
• Orange labels identify areas of the system where hazards exist and where caution should be
taken to avoid serious injury or death.
• Yellow labels indicate that there is a risk of personal injury, fire, or damage.
• Instruction Labels are affixed on the system at relevant locations to alert the operator to
operate the system correctly.
