REPAIR AND CLEANING PROCEDURE
CLEAN OR REPLACE THE PACKING NUT (FIG. 9)
1. Separate the air motor from pump, following the appropriate
procedure (page 4).
2. Unscrew th grub screw (58).
3. Unscrew the pipe (52) and the packing nut (54). The seal (55) should
be stayed with the packing nut, if it stayed in the pump, slide it up the
packing rod gently until is free.
4. Examine the slide rings (53) and the rod (66) for wear and or damage
as if they are defective any new packing rod seal will fail. If the nut is
faulty this will replaced now, but if the rod is faulty the pump will
have to be completely dismantled (please, follow the section clean
and replace piston valve).
5. Fit a new o-seal (57) and a new back-up ring (56). Replace the
packing rod seal (55) to the packing nut (54), lightly greasing the
seals to aid assembly.
ATTENTION: Fit the U-seal (55) with lips facing down.
6. Push the nut (54) and seals over the packing rod (67) until the nut
thread engages with the outlet body thread (61), reversing each step.
CLEAN OR REPLACE THE PISTON VALVE (FIG. 10)
1. To clean or replace the piston valve (72) it is necessary separate the
air motor and the foot valve (76), follow this sections in order:
- Separate the air motor from the pump.
- Replace the foot valve (steps 1 to 2).
2. Place the main pump tube (73) in a vice and use the outlet adaptor/
bleed valve to unscrew the outlet body (61) from the tube. Do not
damage the tube by over tightening the vice. Remove o-ring (57)
and back-up ring (56) from outlet valve.
3. A soft faced hammer should now used to gently strike the end of the
packing rod (67) until the piston assembly and particularly the seal
(69) are pushed from the pump tube. With the seals free the piston
and the packing rod assembly should be free and can now be pulled
out of the pump tube.
4. Remove the pump tube (73) from the vice. Hold the connecting rod
(67) close to down spiral pin (65) in the vice and remove the pin by
tapping it through the hole with a hammer and pin punch.
5. Remove the connecting rod (67) from the vice. Unscrew the valve
(72) and remove the piston (68, 71) from the valve.
6. Remove the piston guide (70). Separate two piece pistons (68, 71)
and remove the piston seal (69).
7. It is recommend that after thorough cleaning and examination of the
components, any that show signs of wear or damage are replaced
prior to re-assembly.
8. Assemble the pump following all steps, reversing each.
