Using the IPM-400 as a Source (cont'd)
Calibrate Thermocouple Inputs
Display: T/C Type, J, T, E, K, N, R, S, °F, °C
This function simulates a thermocouple signal into any instrument requiring a thermocouple
input. The output of the meter is automatically cold junction compensated.
1.
Turn the Selector knob to T/C.
2.
Repeatedly press the DISPLAY/SOURCE/READ button until "SOURCE" appears on the
display. If the incorrect thermocouple type is displayed, follow the procedure below.

4.
Disconnect the thermocouple from the instrument to be calibrated.
5.
Use the proper thermocouple wire and corresponding miniature thermocouple connector
to connect the meter to the thermocouple.
6.
With the toggle switch at SET, adjust the output to the desired value.
7.
Flip the toggle switch to HI or LO to use the stored values. See the Storing Output Values
section to change the stored values.
To change the thermocouple type:
1.
Press the TYPE/ENG UNITS button. The "SELECT T/C TYPE" menu appears.
2.
Turn the digital pot to change the type.
3.
Press the STORE/RESET button or wait 5 seconds to store the selection and to return to
normal operation.
