Using the IPM-400 to Read (cont'd)
Count Frequencies
Display: kHz, Hz, CPM
This function is used as a frequency counter. Available ranges are from 0.01 kHz to 15.00 kHz,
1 Hz to 1500 Hz, and from 1 CPM to 1500 CPM (counts per minute).
1.
Turn the Selector knob to FREQ.
2.
Connect the black and red leads to the meter as shown. To measure waveforms with
amplitudes between 1 V and 10.25 V RMS, use the low level inputs. Use the high voltage
connection to read waveforms with amplitudes from 10.25 V to 250 V RMS.
3.
Press the TYPE/ENG UNITS button to select the desired function.
4.
Disconnect one or both input wires from the device to be calibrated.
5.
Connect the red lead of the meter to the plus (+) input of the device and the black lead to
the minus (–).
6.
Use the toggle switch to view the maximum and minimum values.

below 10.25 V RMS
Electric shock hazard:
• Do not apply more than the rated voltage between any two input terminals, or
between any input terminal and earth ground.
• Do not contact the test lead tips or any uninsulated portion of the accessory.
Failure to observe these warnings can result in severe injury or death.
