Type RPC D/PID positioner
7.1.2 Automatic adaptation of the positioner to the operating conditions (X.TUNE)
The following functions are triggered automatically:
Adaptation of the sensor signal to the (physical) stroke of the actuator used.
•
Determination of parameters of the PWM signals for activation of the solenoid valves integrated in the type RPC positioner.
•
Setting the controller parameters of the positioner. The optimization is carried out according to the criteria of the shortest
•
possible settling time with simultaneous freedom from overshoot.
WARNING!
Hazard due to change of valve position when executing the X.TUNE function.
There is an acute risk of injury when performing the X.TUNE function under working pressure.
► Never run X.TUNE while the process is running!
► Secure the system against unintentional operation!
NOTE!
Incorrect supply pressure or connected operating medium pressure may cause the regulator to
maladjust!
► X.TUNE in any case at the supply pressure (= pneumatic auxiliary energy) available during subsequent operation.
► Preferably perform the X.TUNE function without operating medium pressure to exclude interferences due to flow forces.
CAUTION!
X.TUNE ERROR 5!
If the message X.TUNE ERROR 5 is displayed after starting the X.TUNE function, the alignment of the RPC positioner type shaft to the
actuator shaft is not correct.
► Check alignment (as described in this chapter).
► Then repeat the X.TUNE function.
NOTE!
To abort X.TUNE, press the left or right selection button STOP.

The changed data are not stored in the memory (EEPROM) until the main menu is exited via the left selection button EXIT.

MENU Press for 3 s. Change from process level to setting level.
X.TUNE selection.
RUN Keep RUN pressed as long as countdown (5 ...) is running.
During the automatic adjustment, messages about the progress of the X.TUNE appear
on the display (e.g. "TUNE #1..."). Once the automatic adjustment is finished
the message "TUNE ready" appears
Select any button. Return to the main menu (MAIN).
EXIT selection. Change from setting level to process level.
You have automatically adjusted the positioner.
