The wire feeder motor does not work.
WARNING
The wire feed motor is activated with the start command,
which also activates the inverter operation, or with
the Motor Test command via the Touch Panel (1), (see
Instruction Manual).
Therefore, on starting motor with the start Torch buton
for the threading operation, be careful do not put in
contact the torch or welding wire with the ground
potential (welding bench or workpiece).
WIRE FEEDER MOTOR (11) TEST.
□ Panel board (47), connector J16, terminals 1(+) and
2(-) = +3 ÷ 14 Vdc approx., with start button pressed.
Maintaining the start button pressed the voltage from
initial +3 Vdc rise up to +14 Vdc in approximately 5 s.
(whatever the welding program selected).
NO
Correct?
♦ Check the wiring between J16 panel board
(47) and wire feeder motor (11).
♦ With the power source off, temporarily dis-
connect the wire feeder motor (11) terminals
from connector J16 on panel board (47) and
make sure the resistance between the motor
terminals left free. Correct value = approxi-
mately 2 ÷ 4 ohm (motor winding resistance).
If >Mohm (winding interrupted), replace
wire feeder motor (11).
♦ Make sure there are no mechanical impedi-
ments blocking the motor (11).
♦ Check the motor rotation direction. If incorrect,
reverse the wires on connector J16.
♦ Replace the wire feeder motor (11) and/or
panel board (47).
MOTOR POWER SUPPLY TEST.
□ Panel board (47), connector J20, terminals 4(+) and
3(-), voltage = :
− +42 Vdc approx., with power source powered.
YES
♦ Check wiring between J20 panel board (47)
and J14 on power board (56).
♦ With the power source off, temporarily dis-
connect J14 from power board (56). Power
up the power source and make sure on J14 of
power board (56) terminals 1(+) and 5(-), volt-
age = +42 Vdc approx. with power source
powered

YES
Correct?
NO
If not correct:
− Check power supply voltages of power
board (56) by carrying out the SERVICE
TRANSFORMER POWER TEST (54)
and POWER BOARD POWER TEST
(56), par. 3.3.1;
− check efficiency DIODES D14-D15-
D16-D17, capacitors C30 C31 and C46, on
power board (56) (see Map of connectors
section 5.6);
− replace power board (56).
If correct, identify the defective components
on the panel board (47), based on the Connec-
tor Map of par. 5.8.
♦ Replace power boards (56) and / or panel
(48).
MOTOR SPEED SIGNAL TEST
□ Panel board (47), connector J16, terminals 1 (+) and 2 (-)
= +3 ÷ +12 Vdc approx., With MOTOR TEST pressed
(see Instruction Manual). Keeping the MOTOR TEST
pressed, the initial +3 Vdc voltage increases to +12 Vdc
(regardless of the selected welding program).
NO
Correct?
♦ Regular operations
□ The motor runs at maximum; check Encoder wiring
between J8 Panel board (47) and Motor (11).
ENCODER POWER SUPPLY TEST.
□ Panel board (47), connector J8, terminals 1(+) - 4(-),
voltage = +5 Vdc.
ENCODER TEST.
□ With power source off, temporarily disconnect J8 from
the panel board (47) and check resistance between ter-
minals of the patch connector disconnected from J8:
− terminals 1 - 4 = terminals 2 - 4 = terminals 3 - 4 =
20 Kohm approx.
If short-circuited, replace motor (11) and panel board
(47). If >Mohm replace the motor (11).
