Chapter 5: After surgery
This chapter describes how to clean the reusable components of the Ultravision system, how to recharge the battery when
required and recommended actions if the mains converter is used in place of the batteries.
The reusable components should be cleaned with a mild detergent that is approved and routinely used in your hospital for
cleaning surgical generators and non-sterile medical cables and connectors.
Cleaning the Ultravision™ Patient Return Adaptor
The patient return adaptors may require cleaning from time to time.
The cables and surfaces of the connectors should be wiped with a mild detergent. Cables and connectors should be allowed
to air dry thoroughly before being reused.
Post surgery actions with the mains converter.
1. Switch off the Ultravision generator.
2. It is recommended that the Mains Converter is stored inside the Ultravision Generator until its next intended use.
3. The power supply jack should be removed by locating the barrel of the male socket slightly recessed in the battery
bay and pulling gently to remove.
4. Disconect the power supply unit from the mains supply. The cable itself should not be subjected to mechanical
force as this may damage the unit.
It is recommended that the power supply and its cable are stored off the floor where the device will not be damaged.
Cleaning the Ultravision™ Generator
The generator may require cleaning from time to time:
1. Ensure that the generator is switched off ("O").
2. Eject the battery and remove or where a mains converter is in use, remove the power supply jack.
3. Ensure that all cables are detached from the generator.
4. Wipe all external surfaces thoroughly with a soft cloth that has been dampened with a mild detergent.
5. Ensure that the generator is dry before reusing.
Cleaning the Ultravision™ Battery Recharging station
The recharging station may require cleaning from time to time:
1. Ensure that the recharging station is unplugged from the power supply.
2. Ensure that the battery charging bays are empty.
3. Wipe the external surfaces thoroughly with a soft cloth that has been dampened with a mild detergent.
4. Ensure that the recharging station is dry before reconnecting the power supply.
Warning
Always disconnect the patient return adaptor from the electrosurgical generator and Ultravision generator before cleaning.
Always turn off and unplug the Ultravision generator before cleaning.
Allow the patient return adaptor and Ultravision generator to air dry thoroughly before reusing.
Do not attempt to sterilise the patient return adaptor or Ultravision generator.
Keep the patient return adaptor and Ultravision generator away from liquids. Liquids that enter the generator may damage
internal components. Do not spray liquid cleaner into the Sockets of the Ultravision generator. Only apply appropriate clean-
ing liquids when applied to a cloth.
Be Aware
Do not attempt to clean the patient return adaptor or Ultravision generator with alcohol or caustic, corrosive or abrasive
cleaning or disinfectant compounds, solvents, or any other material that could scratch or cause damage.
