Condition
Pump does not cycle.
Pump will not prime.
Pump cycles rapidly.
Pump cycles continuously, or slowly
(once or twice/hour).
External leaks
Product leakage visible at top or bottom of
packing screw (4).
Product leakage visible at bottom of body (11).
Product leakage visible at top and/or bottom of
coupling (24).
Product leakage visible at top of valve body (39).
Internal leaks
Pump does not prime or cycles continuously,
or slowly (once or twice/hour).
Possible cause
Packing screw (4) too tight.
Air motor not operating properly.
Pump tube jammed and/or contains loose
components.
Insufficient air pressure.
Excessive cycling speed.
Pump leaking internally.
Product source empty.
Pump leaking internally.
Pump leaking externally.
Distribution system leaking.
Packing screw (4) not sufficiently tight.
Worn or damaged V-packings (16).
Damaged rod (3).
Pump tube not sufficiently tight.
Damaged o-ring (22).
Cylinder(s) not sufficiently tight.
Damaged o-ring (22) and/or (34).
Valve body (39) not sufficiently tight.
Damaged o-ring (34).
Foreign material between ball (38) and
valve body (39).
Foreign material between valve (34) and

Corrective action
Loosen packing screw (4).
Inspect air motor and rebuild or replace
as necessary.
Rebuild pump tube.
Increase air pressure.
Reduce air pressure,

Replenish product.

Correct leak.
Tighten packing screw (4) with torque bar.
Replace V-packings (16).
Inspect rod (3) and replace as necessary.
Tighten pump tube assembly.

Replace o-ring (22) and/or (34).
Tighten valve body (39) into cylinder (35).

Disassemble pump tube, clean, inspect and
replace worn or damaged components.
