Conformance to Standards
The UPS conforms to the following international standards:
IEC 60601-1, Ed. 3.1, 2012: Medical electrical equiptment – Part 1: General requirements for basic safety and essential
performance
IEC 60601-1-2, Ed. 4.0, 2014: Medical electrical equipment – Part 1-2: General requirements for basic safety and essential
performance – Collateral standard: Electromagnetic compatibility – Requirements and tests with ESD and Radiated Radio
Frequency Immunity deviations. See Table 2 and Table 9 in section 9 (Electromagnetic Compatibility) of this Technical
Specifications & Service Manual for modified immunity levels.

Checkout Procedures
Pre-Use Check
Connect the supplied, grounded, hospital grade power cord to the UPS AC connector receptacle.
Plug the power cord into a grounded hospital grade receptacle.
Press the On/Off switch at the bottom of the unit to On as indicated by the line symbol. Verify that the green Power indicator is
illuminated. Verify that the second highest UPS Volume Level indicator is illuminated. Verify that the level 1 UPS Power Level
indicator is illuminated. These are the preset initial settings of the UPS.
Verify operation of volume control buttons. Press the Volume Control Up button until the highest UPS Volume Level indicator is
illuminated. Press the Volume Control Down button until the lowest UPS Volume Level indicator is illuminated. Verify that the
audible beep from the UPS is lowest in volume when set lowest and highest when set highest.
Verify operation of the power level buttons. Press the Power Level Up button until the level 8 UPS Power Level indicator is
illuminated. Press the Power Level Down button until the level 1 UPS Power Level indicator is illuminated. At each power level
selected, the power level indicators below the setting should also be illuminated (e.g. if the setting is 6, the power level indicators
for levels 1 through 6 should all be illuminated).
Note: The UPS is a direct current (DC) power supply and not a radio frequency (RF) power supply. No other electrical tests are
necessary or possible without specialized knowledge and equipment for Microline Surgical power supplies.

Service Procedures
Hangar Replacement
The hanger may be replaced if damaged or if the swivel locking function becomes impaired. Use only the Microline Surgical 006
Hanger Replacement Kit (ASM0141) for this replacement. Contact Microline Surgical customer service at the number located
on the back cover of this service manual to order the kit.
- Equipment needed: Phillips-head screwdriver
Remove the damaged hanger from the UPS.
- Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, loosen and remove the two screws (see arrows below) holding the hanger to the body of
the UPS. Discard the hanger and screws in accordance with appropriate industrial and environmental standards. The
screws have a special locking feature and are designed to be used only once.
