Checking and replacing the spark plug
To ensure a proper engine operation, the spark plug
must be clean and with adequate distance between the
electrodes.
There are several factors that can affect the operation
of the spark plug: incorrect carburetor adjustment and
fuel mixture, and dirty air filter. These factors cause
deposits in the spark plug electrodes, which leads to
operating problems and difficult start-ups.
If the power tool has a low power or troubles when
starting, check the spark plug before making any further
checks.
1. Remove the cap, unscrew the spark plug with the
supplied wrench and check if it is clean. If dirty, clean
the soot with a brush;
2. If the spark plug is "wet", with excess fuel, place a
clean cloth over the spark plug hole and pull the starter
handle several times without the spark plug;
3. Measure the distance between the electrodes with
appropriate tools. The distance should be between 0.6-
0.7 mm. If necessary, bend the electrode until enough
space is available;
4. Place the spark plug with your hand to prevent
damage to the wiring and tighten to compress the
sealing ring, using the wrench provided;
5. If the spark plug does not produce any sparks, replace
it;
A loose spark plug can overheat and damage the
engine.
Always use the type of spark plug recommended
by the manufacturer (VIVELA5510). An improper
use of a spark plug can damage the cylinder.
Lubrification
The brush cutter does not require regular lubrication;
however, the gearbox and rotation shaft grease must be
checked frequently for a longer service life.
Storage and cleaning
Storage
Preparing storage for long periods is vital to avoid
problems and increase the useful life of the brush
cutter.
43
Never store the machine with gasoline in the tank.
Depending on the region and storage conditions,
gasoline can deteriorate and oxidize, causing damages
in the carburetor and fuel system, difficult starts and
clogging caused by particle deposition.
Before storage proceed as follows:
1. Remove the gasoline from the tank;
2. Start the engine until it stops due to lack of fuel;
3. Remove the spark plug and add 2-stroke engine oil (5-
10 cl) to the cylinder through the spark plug hole;
4. Place a clean cloth over the spark plug hole and pull
the starter handle to dispense the oil throughout the
cylinder;
5. Pull the starter handle slowly while feeling some
resistance. The piston rises and the intake and exhaust
valves are closed. Leaving the engine in this position will
help protect against internal corrosion;
6. Reinstall the spark plug;
Cleaning
The appliance must be thoroughly cleaned after each
use. Remove any waste (grass, bush, threads)
accumulated in the cutting blade or in the rotation
screw.
A careful handling protects the device and increases its
service life.
ENVIRONMENT SAFETY
The packaging is made of recyclable materials,
which can be disposed on local recycling points.
Never place power tools in the domestic waste!
Waste such as old oil, fuel, lubricant, filters and wearing
parts can harm humans, animals and the environment,
so they must be properly disposed of or recycled.
Ensure that the deactivated brush cutter is routed and
disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner at a
recycling center.
You can obtain information regarding the disposal of
the machine through the person in charge for the
recycling in your city.
