Operations
C. Position the lower bead breaker roller next to the
lower rim edge (Fig. 5.1-12).
Lift the lower bead breaker disk to facilitate the
introduction of the cover lifting lever and then start
the rotation to break the tyre bead (Fig. 5.1-13).
5.4 Mounting tires
A. Lubricate the entire rim surface (Fig. 5.1-14).
Lubricate both tire beads, inside and outside, with tire-
specific lubricant (Fig. 5.1-15).
OBSERVE THE ROTATION DIRECTION OF THE
TIRE, IF REQUIRED. SOME TIRES HAVE A COLOUR
DOT THAT MUST BE KEPT ON THE OUTSIDE OF
THE WHEEL.
LIBERAL LUBRICATION OF THE TIRE AND THE RIM
IS NECESSARY TO MOUNT TIRE CORRECTLY AND
PROPERLY CENTRE IT ON THE RIM. ENSURE TO
USE TIRE-SPECIFIC LUBRICANT ONLY.
B. Lock the rim on the wheel support and rotate it to
have the valve in 5 o'clock position. Place the tire to
be mounted on the rim. Swing the tower forward so
that the mount/demount tool is in the working position.
ENSURE THAT THE MOUNT/DEMOUNT TOOL IS
NOT LOCKED IN A POSITION WHERE IT WOULD
HIT THE RIM EDGE BEFORE TILTING THE COLUMN
FORWARD.
C. Engage the lower bead OVER the mounting wing
and UNDER the mounting finger of the tool. Turn the
wheel support clockwise and push the tire down into
the drop centre, opposite to the tool (Fig. 5.1-16).
D. To mount the upper bead it is possible to use the
BEAD PRESSER device (Fig. 5.1-17). The use of this
device together with the wheel support rotation will
facilitate the mounting operation.
