PLAYING BACK A TAPE
Preparations
.
Have the TVon andturned
to the video channel or video input mode.
(See page 22.)
Set the COLOR SYSTEM setting to "AUTO" or to the color system of
the input source. (See page 30.)

Check the OUTPUT system indicator (NTSC) lights. If not,
press the OUTPUT SYSTEM (NTSC) button.
When the connected TV is NTSC/PAL
multiple type, this operation
does not necessary.

42.
Insert a cassette.
The power turns on automatically,
If the cassette does not have an erasure prevention

playback
starts automatically.
Press the
PLAY button to start playback.
Press the
STOP button to stop playback.
To fast forward the tape
In the stop mode, press the @WFFWD/~
button.
To rewind the tape
In the stop mode, press the +/REW/@
button
To eject the tape
Press the A EJECT button,
To play back a non-NTSC tape
Set the OUTPUT SYSTEM to NTSC to play back a PAL tape, and pictures
are normal. When the connected TV is NTSC/SECAM
multiple type, a
MESECAM tape is played back normally.
The unit automatically
selects the tape playback speed.
Depending on the quality of the tape, the unit may fail to discriminate
the color system under the "AUTO" setting. If a tape is played back in
monochrome,
select
the
COLOR
SYSTEM
setting
to "PAL",
"MESECAM"
or 'fNTSC" corresponding
with the system of the tape,
PAUSING PLAYBACK — STILL
PICTURE
During playback, press the 11PAUSE/STILL
button. The picture freezes
on the screen,
To return to normal playback, press the E PLAY button.
. If the still picture
mode lasts for more than 5 minutes,
the unit
automatically
goes to the stop mode to protect the tape.
. For MESECAM tapes recorded, the noise lines may not be completely
removed from the still picture.
For MESECAM
tapes recorded
at LP speed, noise lines may be
present, and the color may disappear.
