If you tighten the chain when it is cold, you should
check the tension after a few cuts (the chain will
have reached its working temperature) since when it
heats up it will expand and loosen, with the danger
of it coming out of the guide. Re-tension the chain if
necessary.
If the chain retensions when hot, the tension should
be checked when it cools down and slightly slackened
if necessary as the shrinkage that occurs when the
chain cools down could put excessive tension on the
chain and damage it.
New chains require a break-in period during which
their links are adjusted slightly modifying the distance
of the chain, this break-in period is a couple of
minutes cut. If you work with a new chain, remember
to check its tension after these first few minutes.
5.2.2. CHAIN OIL
Use only special oil for chainsaw chains. Do not
use any other oil that is not for chainsaws as it may
damage the machine's oil pump.
The chain oil must be filled in the chain oil tank. The
oil tank cap is indicated in chapter 3. "Symbols on the
machine".
To prevent dirt from getting inside the tank, clean the
oil tank cap before opening it. Close the oil level plug
by tightening it and clean up if oil has spilled out of
the reservoir.
Check the contents of the oil tank by looking at the oil
level window.
Note: The service life of chainsaw chains and guide
bars is highly dependent on the quality of the lubricant
used. Do not use used oil!
