Tightening torque SOLAS-D4/D6 (B):
45 ± 5 Nm (33.2 ± 3.7 lbf ft).
The tightening torque differs
from the value given the Service & Maintenance
manual.
•
Check the condition of the hose connections on
the ball valve. Tighten the hose clamps.
•
Check the condition of the seals on the starter
motor drainage. Drain off any condensation by
undoing the seals on the starter motor drainage
(C). Reseal the drainage again.
•
Check the condition of the capsizing relay, ball
valve and alternator. Also check their wiring,
connectors and terminations. The function of the
capsizing relay is checked by inverting it. The
engine should then stop automatically.
•
Replace impeller. See instructions for how
to change impeller in the D4/D6 Service &
Maintenance manual.
Every 800 hour / at least once every 4
•
Replace drive belt. See the instructions for
replacement of drive belt in the D4/D6 Service &
Maintenance manual.

After use in extreme conditions:
If the engine has been operated
partly submerged in water, a thorough inspection
and cleaning must follow as soon as possible. The
inspection applies even if the water level did not
exceed the crankshaft, as sea conditions may mean
that water washed over the engine. Water, especially
salt water, is particularly damaging to the engine
components.
•
Check and clean all outer engine components.
Take special care of the electrical system.
