9.5 Care and Maintenance of Reusable Tube Sets (NOT APPROVED
FOR SALE IN THE UNITED STATES)
The following instructions apply when using reusable tube sets.
The reusable tube systems must be cleaned, disinfected and sterilized before
each use. This applies in particular also to the first use after delivery, because all
reusable tube systems are supplied non-sterile (cleaning and disinfecting after
removing transport protection packing, sterilization after removing packaging).
Effective cleaning and disinfection is an essential prerequisite for effective ster-
ilization. As part of your responsibility for the sterility of products during use,
please make sure that
• only cleaning/disinfection and sterilization methods sufficiently validated for
the device and specifically designed for the product are used.
• the used devices (RDG, sterilizer) are regularly maintained and checked.
• adherence to the validated parameters during each cycle is ensured.
Please also comply with the legal or statutory requirements applicable to your
country as well as the hygiene rules of the physician's office or hospital. This ap-
plies in particular to the differing requirements regarding effective prion inacti-
vation.
WARNING!
The reusable tube system consists of silicone, polysulfone (PSU). For cleaning and
disinfection, use only pH-neutral or slightly alkaline cleaners (e.g., neodic Medi-
Clean 2.0 %), disinfectants (e.g., Lysetol V 8%), drying, and clear rinsing sub-
stances approved for the utilized materials.
If using unsuitable substances (e.g., the neodic clear rinsing agent MediKlar), the
tube system and especially the PSU connection points may become damaged.
The manufacturer has verified the reusable tube system for a limited number of
recycling cycles. Always comply with the instructions on the label.
Never exceed the number of uses indicated by the manufacturer.
