WORKING WITH TREE SERVICE CHAIN SAW FROM ROPE AND HARNESS
・ ・ ・ ・ Operators of tree service chain saws working at height from a rope and harness should
never work alone.
・ ・ ・ ・ A ground worker trained in appropriate emergency procedures should assist them.
・ ・ ・ ・ Operators of tree service chain saws for this work should be trained in general safe
climbing and work positioning techniques and be properly equipped with harnesses,
ropes, strops, carabiners and other equipment for maintaining secure and safe
working position for both themselves and the saw.
PREPARING TO USE THE SAW IN THE TREE
・The chain-saw should be checked, fuelled, started and wormed up by the ground worker and then
switched off before it is sent up to the operator in the tree.
・The chain-saw should be fitted with a suitable strop for attachment to the operator's harness (see Figure A).
1. Secure the strop around the attachment point on the rear of the saw.
2. Provide suitable carabiners to allow indirect (i.e. via the strop) and direct attachment (i.e. at the attachment point on the saw) of
the saw to the operator's harness.
3. Ensure the saw is securely attached when it is being sent up to the operator.
4. Ensure the saw is secured to the harness before it is disconnected from the means of ascent.
The ability to directly attach the saw to the harness reduces the risk of damage to equipment when moving around tree. Always
switch the saw off when it is directly attached to the harness.
The saw should only be attached to the recommended attachment points on the harness. These may be at mid-point (front or rear)
or at the sides. Where possible, attach the saw to the centre rear mid-point to keep it clear of climbing lines and to support its weight
centrally down the operator's spine. (see Figure B).
When moving the saw from any one attachment point to another, operators should ensure it is secured in the new position before
releasing it from the previous attachment point.

• Gli operatori di motoseghe che si trovino a operare in altezza con fune e imbragatura non devono mai lavorare
soli.
• Dovranno avvalersi dell'assistenza di un operatore a terra, che sia specializzato in interventi d'emergenza.
• Gli operatori addetti ai servizi di potatura piante devono avere seguito un percorso di formazione sulla sicurezza di
tale attività e sulle tecniche di posizionamento. Inoltre dovranno essere adeguatamente dotati di imbragatura, funi,
gancio, moschettoni e altro materiale che consenta di mantenere una posizione di lavoro sicura per se stessi e per
la motosega.
PREPARARSI ALL'USO DELLA SEGA NELL'ALBERO
• La motosega deve essere controllata, rifornita di carburante, avviata e riscaldata dall'operatore di terra e quindi spenta prima di
essere trasferita all'operatore che si trova sull'albero.
• La motosega deve essere dotata di un adeguato gancio, che consenta di attaccare l'imbragatura dell'operatore (si veda Figura A).
1. Fissare il gancio attorno al punto di attacco, collocato sulla parte posteriore della sega.
2. Fornire dei moschettoni adeguati, che consentano un attacco indiretto (ad esempio tramite il gancio) e diretto della motosega
(ad es. il punto di attacco alla sega) all'imbragatura dell'operatore.
3. Verificare che la sega sia attaccata in maniera sicura quando inviata all'operatore.
4. Assicurarsi che la sega sia fissata all'imbragatura prima di scollegarla dal supporto con cui è stata issata.
La capacità di attaccare la sega direttamente all'imbragatura riduce il rischio di danneggiare la motosega quando ci si muove attorno
all'albero. Quando la motosega è direttamente collegata all'imbragatura, spegnerla sempre.
La sega deve essere fissata solo ai punti di attacco sull'imbragatura raccomandati a tale scopo. Tali punti devono essere collocate
centralmente (anteriormente o posteriormente) o ai lati. Dove possibile, collegare la sega al punto centrale posteriore, in maniera
tale mantenere sgombre le linee di ascesa e da consentire la ripartizione del peso dell'utensile centralmente lungo la spina dorsale
dell'operatore. (si veda Figura B).
Quando si sposta la sega da un punto di attacco a un altro, gli operatori devono verificare che venga fissata nella nuova posizione
prima di sganciarla dal precedente punto di attacco.
