For duct applications with downward dis-
charge:
(Models 090/120/150)
1. Remove the side covers from the im-
pulse air and return air compartments
so as to have access to the lower cov-
ers of the ducts.
2. Remove and discard the lower covers
of the ducts.
3. Reinstall the side covers of the impulse
and return air compartments, making
sure they are hermetically sealed.
(Models 180/240/300)
1. Remove the side access panels from the
impulse air and return air compartments
so as to have access to the lower cov-
ers of the ducts.
2. Remove and discard the lower covers
of the ducts.
3. Reinstall the side access panels of the
impulse and return air compartments,
making sure they are hermetically
sealed. Do not forget to install the O ring
on the fastening screws of the panel.
For duct applications with side dischar-
ge:
(Models 090/120/150)
1. Remove and discard the side covers of
the impulse and return air compart-
ments.
2. Connect the ducts to the flanges at the
side openings of the unit.
(Models 180/240/300)
1. Remove and discard the side access
panels of the impulse and return air com-
partments.
2. Substitute these with the access panels
having openings and flanges, included
in the optional accessory kit.
3. Connect the ducts to the flanges on
these new panels.

Fixed outdoor air intake
barometric damper assembly
(Accessory optional) (See Fig. 8)
See details in the instructions of the acces-
sory Kit. It acts as a safety barome-
tric damper on units equipped with an
economiser, or as a fixed outdoor air inta-
ke damper on units without an economi-
ser.
On units with bottom return, install the
damper assembly on the side opening of
the return air duct (see Fig. 8).
On units with side return, install the damper
assembly in the return air duct network, as
close to the unit as possible.
On units without an economiser, adjust the
damper in accordance with the desired air
flow opening, by moving the damper (inside
the hood) to one of the three positions. Po-
sition A will allow approximately 25% of air
flow. Position B approximately 15%, and
14
Position C, approximately 10%.
Fixed outdoor air intake dam-
per assembly, models 180/240/
300
(accessory optional) (See Fig. 9)
See details in the instructions of the acces-
sory Kit.
Supplies a fixed amount of outdoor air, in
units without an economiser.
On units with bottom return, install the
damper assembly on the side access panel
opening (see Fig. 9).
On units with side return, install the damper
assembly in the return air duct network, as
close to the unit as possible.
Adjust the damper in accordance with the
desired air flow.
Position A will allow approximately 10%.
Postion B will allow approximately 15%.
To allow about 25%, remove the damper
from the hood.
Indoor unit condensed water
drain
Tubing installation should be adjusted to
local regulations. Use sealing paste on male
threads. Install a condensed water drain line
from the female connection on the unit, to a
free drain.
Note: The condensed water drain line must
have a siphon for correct emptying. See Fig.
10.
The drain line should have a slope of at least
2 cms. per meter.
Gas installation
(D5IG models)
Gas tubing
Correct dimensioning of gas tubing depends
upon the flow needed, specific density of
the gas and tubing length. Local gas
company
regulations
recommendations should be followed
when determining tubing diameter.
Heating capacity of gas can vary from one
city to another. This heating capacity should
be check with the local gas (supplying)
company.

NOTE: Gas units are shipped prepared for natural gas, but can be transformed into propane (LP) gas by means of a conversion kit.

holes found at the front of the unit. Figs. 11
and 12 show the usual position of gas sup-
ply tubing.
The fan compartment contains two
grommets for all units with gas heating, and
should be placed in the access panel when
the gas tubing is inserted through the front
of the unit.
Recommendations on gas tubing:
1. A drip leg for condensed water and a
ground connection should be installed
on the gas tubing.
2. Whenever specified by local regula-
tions, it could be necessary to install an
external manual cut-off valve.
3. Use wrought iron or steel tubing for all
gas lines. Sealing paste should be ap-
plied, moderately, only on male threads.
Warning
Natural gas can contain a small
amount of propane. Since pro-
pane gas is an excellent solvent,
it quickly dissolves white lead or
most of the normal commercial type com-
pounds. Therefore, a special sealing paste
should be applied when using wrought iron
or steel tubing. Pastes that comply with the
BS6956 Part 5, or equivalent, can be used.
4. All dirt and scales should be eliminated
from the tubing by hitting the outside of
the tubing with a hammer and then blow-
ing out the residue or particles it could
contain. Prior to initial start-up, it is nec-
essary to make sure that air has been
purged from all gas lines that are exter-
nal to the unit.
5. Gas supply should be carried out by
means of a separate line, which should
be installed in compliance with all state,
local or municipal safety regulations.
Once gas installation is complete, open
and
the main cut-off valve, accepting gas at
normal supply pressure. Make sure
there are no leaks at joints by means of
a soapy solution, or any other adequate
method. Never use an open flame.
6. The furnace and its individual manual
cut-off valve should be disconnected
from the gas supply tubing system
during any pressure test of the system
at test pressures over 0.5 psi (3.5 kPa).
