Ventilation and combustion air
hoods
The ventilation and combustion air hoods
are shipped adhered to the fan casing in
the compartment of same. Said hoods
should be installed so as to guarantee cor-
rect operation of the unit.
Both hoods should be fastened to the out-
side of the gas heating access panel, by
means of the screws supplied in the bag
that is also adhered to the fan casing.
When installing, the upper tab of the hoods
is inserted beneath the upper part of the
opening found on the access panel, and
fastened with the screws supplied. (See
Figs. 6 and 7)
GLP/propane gas equipment,
tanks and tubing
All units with gas heating are shipped pre-
pared to operate only with natural gas. This
equipment can be converted to operate with
GLP/propane gas by means of a conversion
kit to be installed at the job site. All units
operating with GLP/propane gas should fol-
low local or municipal safety regulations.
For satisfactory operation, the GLP/propane
gas pressure should be 37 mbar with the
unit at full load. Maintaining adequate gas
pressure depends upon three main factors:
1. Evaporating speed, which depends
upon (a) liquid temperature and (b) the
"humid surface" magnitude of the con-
tainer or containers.
2. Correct pressure setting. (A two-stage
setting is recommended both from the
cost as well as performance points of
view.)
3. Pressure drops in the lines between the
regulators and between the second
phase regulator and the unit. Tubing di-
ameter will depend upon the length of
same and upon the total load of all units.
Complete information on tank dimensioning
for evaporation, recommended settings for
the regulator and tubing dimensioning can
be obtained from the corresponding manu-
facturers and the GLP/propane gas supplier.
Make sure there are no leaks at joints by
means of a soapy solution, or any other
adequate method, once tubing installation
is completed. Never use an open flame.
Start-up
Before starting the equipment up, the nec-
essary adjustments should be carried out
so as to adapt air flows to the installation.
Check airtightness of the connections car-
ried out at the job site with regard to rain
water leaking in.
Check the information available in the tech-
nical manuals of these units.

Check list prior to start up
Check the following before starting the unit.
1. Check the type of gas to be used.
2. Make sure the gas and combustion air
outlet hoods are installed correctly.

Caution:
This furnace is equipped with an
automatic ignition system. Do not
attempt to ignite it manually.
To ignite the main burners:
1. Disconnect the power supply to the unit.
2. Set the ambient thermostat to its lowest
setting.
3. Connect the power supply to the unit.
4. Set the ambient thermostat to the de-
sired temperature.
(If the temperature «set» on the thermo-
stat is higher than the ambient tempera-
ture, the burner will ignite.)
Check list after start up
After having activated the entire control cir-
cuit and the heating section is in operation,
check the following:
1. Make sure there are no gas leaks at the
unit tubing or supply pipes.
2. Make sure the gas pressures in the mani-
fold are correct. See «Gas valve/thermal
switch adjustment».
3. Check the supply gas pressure. It must
be within the limits shown on rating
nameplate. Supply pressure should be
checked with all gas appliances in the
building at full fire. In no case should the
pressure of the auxiliary gas line surpass
25 mbar, nor should the operating

pressure drop below 12.5 mbar on
natural gas equipment. If the gas
pressure is not within these limits, con-
tact the local gas company so that the
corresponding corrective measures may
be taken.
Gas pressure adjustment in
the manifold
This equipment is dispatched from the fac-
tory prepared for natural gas of the 2ND-H
group (G-20).
When adjustment is needed, depending
upon the type of gas used, this can be done
by means of the adjusting screws of the gas
valve (Fig. 15), in accordance with the fol-
lowing sequence. Set to the pressure val-
ues given in the «Gas valve/thermal switch
adjustment» table.
For equipment converted to propane gas
(LPG), the gas valve should be adjusted in
accordance with the technical information
included in the conversion kit.
1. With the second phase in operation,
loosen the Flow Regulating Flywheel of
the second flame (C) slightly, and set said
flywheel to its maximum opening. Adjust
the main regulator (D) to the indicated
value. Reduce the Flow Regulation of the
second flame (C) until the specified pres-
sure is reached.
2.With the first phase in operation, set the
