Fig. 4-3:
Installing the tape on a shaft
1. Thoroughly remove any oil, grease, dust, etc. (use
acetone or similar) from the mounting surface of the
tape and allow to dry completely.
2. Optionally: insert insulators (see sec. 4.1.3).
3. Attach installation aid BAM TO-ML-018-01 (1) and
sensor head (2) to the machine using the screw (3) (see
Fig. 4-3).
4. Align tape (4) with the sensor head as indicated by the
imprint (arrow, arrow on part label).
5. Feed tape (4) between the surfaces (c), (d) of the
installation aid (see Fig. 4-4) by turning the shaft (5) in
the direction of the arrow (see Fig. 4-3).

6. At approximately position (a) (a few cm behind the
sensor head) remove the protective film and glue the
tape to the shaft.
7. Remove protective film up to the sensor head
(approximately position (b)). Turn the shaft (5) back
again (opposite direction from the arrow) if needed.
8. Turn shaft in the direction of the arrow. Stick the rest of
the tape behind the sensor head as far as the end of
the shaft.
9. Optional: Glue cover strip to the tape as a protection
against mechanical and chemical effects.
10. Optional: Fasten tape (including cover strip) to the ends
using screws (see manual for tape).

Insert insulators
(optional accessory, BAM TO-ML-014-01)
Insulators are included in the installation
accessories BAM TO-ML-014-01 (see
section 10.5 on page 31).
With increased EMC requirements, the sensor head can
be assembled in a way to insulate it completely from the
machine using two insulators. This requires two M3
threaded holes on the machine part.
► Insert the two insulators into the 4.3 mm holes on the
sensor head to the left and right.
