End of service life
1) The oxygen self-rescuer has to be complete, i. e. no parts may be missing
such as the handle, etc.
2) The housing must be airtight and there may be no sign of damage such as
cracks or dents deeper than 1.5 mm. The indicator window may not be
damaged.
3) Indicator shows deep blue colour. The oxygen self-rescuer may no longer be
used if there is a significant loss of deep blue colour (50 % of the particles
have changed colour from dark blue to pink or colourless).
4) The oxygen self-rescuer's first weight check must be performed on delivery.
If one of the criteria mentioned in the chart is not fulfilled, the
unit has to be taken out of service!
— The oxygen self-rescuer must be checked immediately after being
subjected to unusual conditions (impact, pressure, etc.).
Notice for customers operating in the field of responsibility of the
German employer's liability insurance association for miners (BBG):
The "BBG's Central Mining Rescue Service Recommendations on
instructions for use and maintenance of oxygen self-rescuers" are to
be observed in the BBG's field of supervision.
These recommendations include the time schedules agreed upon
with the respective mining authority concerning inspections and
usability prolongation of oxygen self-rescuers in these companies.
1) A service life of 10 years can be expected with intended use, which means
that the oxygen self-rescuer is either stored or used for single shift operation
(8 hours per day, 5 work days per week). Use in multi-shift operation will
reduce the service life accordingly.
2) not part of EC type examination
