Splitting
behind the spokes place-
ment
Machines:
All machines BM with programs B, D, E und H.
This program enables the adhesive weight on the right
plane to be split and hidden behind two different spo-
kes of the wheel.
Reason:
Useful when balancing alloy wheels with wide spokes.
When the weight is hidden behind the spokes, it offers
the option for the customer to have a balanced wheel
without the unsightly weights being in view.
Routine:
The rst weight is positioned on the left hand plane as
normal. The wheel is then rotated to the right hand pla-
ne 12 o´ clock position.
Press key 15 to call up the splitting function. The LED 24
shows that the splitting function is active.
The display shows the message that the wheel needs to
be turned into the 12 o´clock position. If mode POS is ac-
tive turn the wheel into the 12 o´clock position. Hold the
wheel in this position until an audible signal tone is heard
Then the message to turn the rst spoke to the 12 o´clock
position is shown .
Turn the wheel clock or anti clockwise until the rst spoke
is located in the 12 o´clock position. Hold the wheel in
this position until an audible signal tone is heard
Then the message to turn the second spoke to the 12
o´clock position is shown..
Turn the wheel in the opposite direction until the se-
cond spoke is located in the 12 o´clock position. Hold
the wheel in this position until an audible signal tone is
heard.
The display left of the weight values changes to the new
positions selected by the operator at each spoke.
In the right and left displays the values change to that
for splitting the weights on the two spokes.
If the wheel is rotated, the operator can check to see
which weight should be placed behind which spoke.
The wheel can be locked with the electro mechanical
brake in every position by simply pushing the STOP but-
ton (not for BM 11).

Note:
The LED 24 indicates that the machine is in splitting
mode.
The program can be left at any time by pressing the key
15. The program will change to enable the original va-
lues for left and right planes to be shown in the display.
A new splitting procedure can be called up at any time
by pressing key 15.
Error:
The program can only split the weights on the right pla-
ne of the wheel. If a two tone audible signal is heard
after pressing key 15 it means that the balance position
is not exactly at 12 o´clock.
The position of the spokes cannot be calculated by the
program when they are more than 150°apart and are
positioned left and right of the weight placement area.
