Assembling/Disassembling

Assembling/Disassembling
The temperature detecting devices have to be tightly connected to the connecting cables. In
the case of thermocouples, the polarity has to be observed. In the case of resistance ther-
mometers, the connection method, 2-wire, 3-wire or 4-wire-circuit has to be observed. While
providing the assembling into pro-tecting wells, it has to be observed that the temperature de-
tecting devices can be moved slightly. If this is not the case, the protecting wells have to be
cleaned inside. Connecting cables, connecting base, junction points may not be damaged.
While providing the disassembling of the temperature detecting devices it has to be observed
that the process is disconnected, if necessary, (danger of burning, danger from emergent dan-
gerous media, etc.) and that connecting cables and housing are not damaged. Damaged parts
have to be replaced. The Design Test Certificate PTB 01 ATEX 2200 X applies only if original
parts are used.

Cables and lines

Insulated cables and lines are to be used only, whose test voltage between wire - ground, wire
- shield and shield - ground is at least 500 V AC. Fine-strand wires have to be protected
against fan out (end sleeves for strands). The di-ameter of single wires, and this applies to
single wires of fine-strand wires, may not be less than 0,1 mm. The used cables have to be
chosen in that manner that the requirements concerning solidity and temperature, resulting
from the case of application, are met. The case given, cables and lines have to be marked by
colour, the used colour has to be light blue.

Installation

While providing the installation, the general requirements for the project work, selection and
construction of electric facilities in potentially explosive areas have to be observed (such as
EN 60079-14).
5

Commissioning

The electric data have to be compared with respect to the accordance with the given Ex-rele-
vant values.
Before the commissioning, it has to be checked whether, in accordance with the connection
method, the volume resistance and loop-type resistance are in good order with respect to their
order of mag-nitude.
6

Maintenance (maintenance and trouble-shooting)

In regular intervals, the temperature detecting devices should be checked with respect to their
functioning. This test can be done by means of measurement of the volume resistance, the
loop-type resistance and the insulation resistance. Defective temperature detecting devices
have to be replaced by original detecting devices of the same type.
