close the stomach pad. Now set the band
straps, starting with the pelvic belt and
moving on to the shoulder strap and
then the elastic middle belt (Fig. 2). You
must follow this sequence. To achieve
this, open the Y hook-and-loop fastening,
pull the band strap so that it is snug and
stick the fastening down again. Once
all of the straps have been set correctly,
they can be cut shorter using scissors
if needed. The band strap eyes can be
moulded thermoplastically. To mould
the band strap eyes, set the hot air
gun to a maximum of 300°C and focus
it on the band strap eye at a distance
of approx. 3 cm for a maximum of 30
seconds. Attention: The band strap must
be removed from the brace beforehand.
The band strap eyes on the support can
be moved and can be removed without
a tool and then refastened. To achieve
this, turn the band strap eyes clockwise
or anticlockwise until they unlock
automatically (Fig. 3). To attach the band
strap eyes, place them back on the strap
and turn them until they lock. The middle
eyes can be set individually at different
heights.
Pelvic strap
Ensure that the pelvic strap runs below
the pelvic bone. This strap should be
tight.
Shoulder straps
The shoulder strap should straighten the
patient's posture slightly but not cut into
the patient. Here, it is important that
the complete strap is tautened, from top
to bottom. The shoulder strap must be
tightened so that the tension ensures
that it lies snugly on the body. However,
it should still be possible to fit an entire
flat hand between the strap padding
and shoulder. Check that the shoulder
pads are seated correctly. They should
be positioned so that the pad lies across
the front of the shoulder area (Fig. 4). The
band strap should roll in underneath the
underarm in order to prevent friction.
Attention: To prevent slipping of the back
support, the pelvic belt must be done
up tighter than the shoulder straps. If
the support slips upwards sometimes,
this has no impact on the function of the
brace. However, the patient should pull
the back support down again.
Elastic middle strap
Adjust the middle strap to the optimum
length so that the reverse buckle is
located in the extension of the armpit and
the patient's shoulders are adequately
held backwards.
Checking the fit of the brace
• Back pad adjusted to fit the patient's
spinal curvature
• The pelvic strap runs firmly below the
pelvic bone
• The shoulder strap is flat against the
body and the flat hand can still be
inserted between the strap and the
shoulder
• The shoulder pad is in the optimum
position
• The elastic connecting strap is
adjusted to the correct length
