Fine balancing
At the end of the balancing sequence, the counter-
weight is rounded off in accordance with the set-up
rounding values.
The balancing result can be displayed with an accu-
racy of one gram via the function key F1, fine balan-
cing, by suppressing the set-up rounding values.
The value is displayed as long as the key is pressed.
Then, the program returns to the normal display
automatically.
Splitting
If the program ALU 3, ALU 6 or PAX 2 was selected
for placing the counterweight, the auxiliary option
„Splitting" or „Placing behind the wire spoke" is
available.
If aluminium rims with broad wire spokes are used, it is recommen-
ded to place the counterweight which is to be attached on the
inside in such a way that it is covered by the wire spokes.
In order to achieve this, the total weight can be distributed onto
2 weights.
Sequence
At the end of the balancing sequence, the wheel stops at the first
compensation position. Mount the first weight in this position.
Turn the wheel to the 2
nd
position via the „Stop/Pos" key on the
operator field or manually.
Press the F3 key for activating the splitting mode.
Rotate the wheel with the first wire spoke, behind which a glueing
process is to take place, to the 12 o'clock position in accordance
with the monitor text until an acoustic signal is heard.
Then, rotate the wheel to the 12 o'clock position with the second
wire spoke and also wait for the acoustic signal.
Here, the angle between the 1
exceed 120°.
A new monitor will be displayed automatically.

For the left-hand compensation level, the weight for the internal
wheel side is displayed as shown before.
For the external wheel side, now, two instead of one splitting
weights are shown for the assembly behind the wire spokes. Die
different positions are displayed on the monitor.
Matching
If a high static imbalance is determined during the measuring
process, this will be shown in the status strip via the auxiliary text
„match".
The imbalance of a wheel can both be caused by the imbalance
of the rim and by the imbalance of the tire. If these two imbalances
coincide in one position, the total weight of the counterweight can
become so high that it cannot be mounted in a sensible way
anymore with standard weights.
Via the „Matching" function, an optimization of the imbalance
position of rim and tire with respect to each other can be reached.
Via the functional key F5, this function can be called
from the measuring monitor at the end of the balan-
cing sequence.
For the execution, the following steps are necessary.
-
Call function F5 - matching -.
-
Remove the wheel from the machine.
-
Dismount the tire from the rim.
-
Clamp the rim with the valve in the 12 o'clock position.
-
Start the balancing sequence.
-
Re-mount the tire onto the rim.
-
Re-clamp the wheel with the valve in the 12 o'clock position.
-
Start the balancing sequence.
-
Manually rotate the wheel when the balancing sequence is
over until both positioning arrows are green.
-
Mark the tire in this 12 o'clock position.
-
Remount the tire.
-
Mount the tire onto the rim in a position where the tire mark
and the valve are in the same position.
With this process, an optimization of the position between tire and
rim is reached. Now, re-start a new balancing sequence.
