straps should be returned to the same position. Undo the collar straps,
and remove the collar (Figure 11).
1. With infant on his/her back, undo the waist and leg straps. This is
also the appropriate position for diaper changes. With the bottom
straps undone (top and neck straps remain fastened), the Papoose
allows for easy access for necessary changing (Figure 12).
2. Undo the Head Strap. Using a washcloth, gently wash under the
infant's chin, the chest and behind the ears with mild facial soap and
water and completely dry the skin. Look for any redness or irritation
under the collar. Clean the collar Front and exchange the soiled pads
with clean ones (Figure 13).
3. If available, hold the collar Front in place and gently roll the infant
onto his/her side, and slide the Papoose out. Clean the Papoose and
replace the soiled pads with clean ones as directed in "Papoose
Cleaning" section (Figure 14).
4. While maintaining the head and body positioning, carefully wash the
back of the infant's neck, and the back. Look for any redness,
especially on the occiput (back of the head) (Figure 15).
5. Slide the Papoose carefully behind the infant's neck and back. Roll the
infant back into the Papoose and securely refasten the collar and all
straps (Figure 16).
PAPOOSE CLEANING
These instructions are also appropriate for cleaning the Miami Jr
Ossur Customer Service (1-800-257-8440) to purchase extra pads.
1. Remove the soiled blue pad. Look carefully at the shape as you
remove it so that you can reposition the clean pads properly
(Figure 17).
2. Wash pads with mild facial soap and water. DO NOT use bleach or
harsh detergents. Thoroughly rinse pads with clean water. Wring out
excess water and squeeze pads in a towel. Lay pads out flat to air dry.
It should take less than 60 minutes for them to dry (Figure 18).
3. Wipe plastic shell clean with mild soap and water (Figure 19).
4. Attach new pads. Fold pads in half with dull side out next to the hook
and loop (shiny side goes against skin); then center pad in the white
shell. Adjust pads as needed to make sure be resting on infant's
clavicles nor digging into shoulders(Figure 20).
