INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Summary
CAMP Goblin is intended to protect against risks of falling from a height when used as follows:
Ÿ a safety line adjustment device for rope access, certified* in accordance with standard EN 12841:2006 Type A,
for use in combination with semi-static ropes EN 1891 Type A with nominal diameter between 10 and 11 mm;
Ÿ a guided-type fall arrester device, certified* in accordance with standard EN 353-2:2002, for use in combination
with semi-static rope as specified in chart A,
Ÿ a working line ascender for rope access, certified* in accordance with standard EN 12841:2006 Type B, for use
in combination with semi-static ropes EN 1891 Type A with nominal diameter between 10 and 11 mm.
* During the certification process the following ropes were used:
Ÿ EN 12841: Cousin Trestec Spélunca 10 mm, Cousin Trestec Thermocore 11 mm.
Ÿ EN 353-2 : CAMP Lithium 10.5 mm, CAMP Lithium 11 mm, CAMP Iridium 10.5 mm, CAMP Iridium 11 mm,
Korda's Lluisa 10.5 mm, Korda's Stark 10.5 mm, Korda's Titania 11 mm, Beal Contract 10.5 mm, Beal Industrie
11 mm (tab.A).
Use
Insert Goblin on the rope as illustrated in fig.1, observing the rope direction marked on the device (fig.2). After installing,
always conduct a locking test to verify correct insertion direction (fig.3). Always check the correct closure of the
attachment hole connector [5]. A safety cord can be inserted between the connector and specific hole [10] to prevent
loss of the device: take particular care so that the length and position of the cord does not interfere with the proper
operation of the device. To connect the device to a harness use exclusively EN 362 steel oval connectors with the
following characteristics: length 109 mm (+/- 5 mm), minimum breaking load 25 kN (CAMP connectors Art. 0981-1455-
1456-1878 are recommended) (fig.4a). For the extension use only the "Webbing Lanyard" connection sling Art.
2030026F - 2030040F - 2030074F or "Goblin Rope Lanyard" Art.213901 - 213902 (fig.4b). Do not use other types of
lanyards and/or energy absorbers.
The structural anchor point which the rope connects to must be placed above the working area and must have a
minimum resistance of 15 kN in compliance with standard EN 795. Never ascend above the anchor and avoid creating
any slack on the rope (fig.5). Fixing or tensioning the rope is not necessary but, to improve sliding, application of a light
weight at the bottom of the rope is useful (< 5 kg).
The device can be used on inclined surfaces. In this case check correct sliding of the device on the rope ahead of time.
In case of slightly inclined surfaces the device can be moved manually.
The rope must not shift laterally, otherwise take appropriate precautions to prevent dangerous pendulum effects.
A minimum clearance distance under the user's feet must be considered as specified in the instructions below. Below
this clearance distance, the user must take particular care because he may not be completely protected in the event of a
fall.
At each use check that the length of the rope used is sufficient and that the free end is knotted or slotted in order to
prevent the device from accidentally coming out of the safety line.
The maximum weight of the user, including the equipment, is 100/120 kg for single use and 200 kg for double use in
rescue (see chart A-B).
High or low temperatures, humidity, rain, ice, oil or dust can negatively impact the performance of the device and the
ropes combined with it.
Use adequate rescue equipment and provide adequate training for the work crew so that they can act quickly in the
event of a fall.
Main materials of the device: aluminium allow, stainless steel. Main material of the anchor lines to be used: polyamide.
For installation of a drop proof cord see fig.14 (only for expert users).
